Arthur was a passionate Sailor. He joined the military, taking after his father, and learned as much as he could. He was capable, motivated and talented. Lacking the social skills to maneuver the ranks, Arthur eventually bumped shoulders with another young man. This escalated until Arthur caught him breaking the law. From then on, Arthur was doomed. That man climbed through ranks quickly and crushed any hopes Arthur had. He smeared his name, stifled his advancement, took away all the roles he sought out, and stationed him in remote places. Arthur never crumbled, but his experience never recovered. He lost any chance at advancement, he lost friends, he lost all social interaction, and even when he was old and wizened, he was deprived of the chance to teach. Eventually, he was stationed on a remote island in collaboration with the British Antarctic Survey. He was completely isolated. His relation with the entire US Navy was taken from him, and all he could do for over 40 years was hope things got better. They never did.

PASSIVE: Call From Beyond The link between the Herald and [The Nameless One] is an intrinsic and souldeep one, one that provides strange and interesting connections. While [The Nameless One] is out on the field, the Herald and [The Nameless One] can share senses and activate abilities or skills from the other’s position or target them for abilities or skills that are usually self only. Additionally, should either of them take fatal damage, the other can sacrifice half of their current [VIT] to keep them alive and heal them up to the amount of [VIT] sacrificed, this can occur up to three times per thread, uses are shared between the Herald and [The Nameless One]. Upgrades once [The Nameless One] reaches Level 40

core The Herald of the Deep is someone that has already gone over the fall, the waters roar and cover, and in the lightless dark they called out for help, to do anything to break them free from the nightmare they had found themselves. Most people die, but this time something answered the Herald’s call, something that has tied itself to the Herald in a symbiotic relationship. Hope dies and determination is all that remains. The Herald of the Deep is a summoning class, however it only has one summon and can only ever have one summon, [The Nameless One]. This is a great beast that can be shaped and molded into a variety of purposes. Unlike normal summons, this one doesn’t use Star ratings but instead has levels of its own. Just like the Herald it begins at Level 1 and utilizes player stats instead of summon stats. [break][break]
[The Nameless One] can purchase levels of its own, up to a maximum of 100, but cannot out level the Herald, and it can only choose Stats. If [The Nameless One] dies during a topic, it instead returns to its slumber in the depths, unusable for the rest of the thread, but will return unharmed in the next. The summon has the same anchor as the Herald, and every 25 levels it gains a new Ability, up to a maximum of 5 at level 100. [break][break]
Some items gained by the Herald will have the [Pressure Plated] tag, these items can be given to [The Nameless One] to use as other items cannot hold up to their alien form. [break][break]
Every 20 levels of [The Nameless One] they may choose one of three special options, known as Aspects, to further shape their growth, adding new innate effects to them akin to the abilities of a normal summon. These Aspects are as follows: [break][break]
Kaiju: Offensive aspect, possible bonuses include increases to [PWR] or [MAGI], increased damage, increased area of effect, gaining new offensive [Pressure Plated] items. [break][break]
Elder: Support aspect, possible bonuses include increases to [SPD] or [WIL], addition of debuffs or buffs onto abilities, alternate movement methods or gaining new supportive [Pressure Plated] items. [break][break]
Titan: Defensive aspect, possible bonuses include increases to [DEF] or [VIT], damage reduction, shielding abilities, damage redirection or gaining new defensive [Pressure Plated] items. [break][break]
Lastly, the Herald may draw upon the deep water themselves and launch out blasts of dark-infused water, dealing darkness and water damage once per post equal to their [MAGI], up to a range of their [MAGI] divided by 2 meters. [break][break]

End Eternity’s Slumber: Drawing upon the ancient pact and the energy from beyond the veil, the Herald can use this energy to trigger a vile and virulent regeneration in a target. If the target's [VIT] is lower rank than the attacking stat used it also suffers from the [Shredded] status, reducing its DEF by -20% and lowering the effectiveness of damage reduction abilities by -10% for two posts. The Old Man and the Sea
Arthur was born near the beginning of the Vietnam War, into a military household. His father and uncle were deployed shortly after, and by the time he was old enough to remember anything, they had already returned. From the stories they told as he was growing up, they were heroes. There was no shortage of tales of their endeavors and heroic antics, and despite the general negative perception of the war, Arthur maintained a positive opinion of the military. This would guide his formative years, and his goal was to serve when he grew up[break][break]
Despite his illustrious image of the armed forces, Arthur's experience was far from ideal. He joined the Navy at the ripe age of 17, and applied himself to whatever job he was assigned. He knew that if he worked hard, he could rise through the ranks and make his family proud. What he never realized was how much likability and conversational skills influenced your progression. Arthur was an incredibly skilled and dedicated worker, but he wasn't socially apt. To make matters worse, he regularly scuffled with an unsavory man who did have social skills.[break][break]
One thing lead to another, and repeated conflicts with this antagonist lead to the 'fall' of his military career. That same man rose through the ranks rapidly, and quickly grasped at authority. He wasn't afraid to use it. Arthur was unexpectedly stationed on Adak Island, a frigid place near Alaska, and spent nearly 15 years there. When the base closed in 1997, Arthur thought things would get better. Instead, that same animosity was still present after all these years, and Arthur was sent to South Georgia Island. In a weird politically maneuvered exchange, Arthur was sent to the 'American Installment' on this otherwise mostly abandoned island managed by the British Antarctic Survey. It was a small shack that was a few miles from where the British occupied their research facility. He was practically abandoned there for the next 20 something years.[break][break]
When the blue prompt appeared, Arthur was certain that his loneliness had finally driven him mad. Earth was speaking to him in a strange hallucination.
