CHAPTER 1: ROT, CURSE, & PRAY
TUTORIAL
In his seat, he was to yawn, the steam of his freshly brewed coffee masking his tired face from his stern father. Alas though, him trying to conceal the fact that he had been up late last night was futile. It made his dad quite concerned though. Koyu refused to go to college despite his talents, causing his only parent left to worry for the future of his dear son. In the face of the boy, the father was to sigh, his sigh penetrating the heart of his child whom has been within quite the slump.
In spite of that though, the young man was to roll his eyes, trying not to worry very much about what his father thought of his lifestyle. Koyu could not help though but feel that this world, this mundane reality that humanity has crafted, did not suit him. It sapped motivation from his very being, every drop of muse that may drive the college age boy.
Kun Kamamoto: "Koyu, take out the trash. Oh- and I sure hope you know that you were born with privilege, son. It is crucial for those who have the power to help those who may be less fortunate. It is vital for these people to contribute to society, you know?"
It bothered him; Koyu could care less about those less fortunate. In truth, he just wanted to have fun, was that too much to ask for though? Koyu never asked to be born the son of a famous soccer player, nor did he feel required to help others he had not an ounce of respect for. It was quite a cruel outlook on life, yes, but who cares? It is better to pursue your own desires within life, than serve others, people that just want to merely benefit from you, and nothing more.
Koyu had fallen far from the tree that had bore him, and that was just fine to him. Koyu slumped his head, before then standing up from his chair, placing his coffee down on the table. In an unmotivated amble, he clutched the trash bag, opening the door to their Seoul estate. It was a bright day, perhaps too bright to be frank. Koyu preferred the rain to the pestering light of the sun. Anywho- time to take the trash out to the cur-
Koyu: "Oi- Papa, do you see this.. ?"
In the face of the boy, a message appeared before him? It read along the lines of 'xD this planet sucks! I am giving everyone classes to fight monsters!' but what did this even mean? Is perhaps Koyu dreaming? It could be. Koyu may have gone batshit from his NEET activities, he surely would not be surprised, nor would others be. However, suddenly, then his father was to shout out to Koyu that he saw a similar message before him now.
It must not be a dream? It could still be, but the boy had his doubts. In recent times, weird anomalies have begun happening, starting with those odd meteors a few years ago now. Is this related to that? Koyu had no way of being sure but he was to play along with this message to him that was now prompting him to pick his class? Oh? you mean like a video game? Koyu was to smile, nervously laughing to himself just for a short moment, before then carefully examining his options that were presented to him.
Koyu: "Uh~ ahaha, I will choose Divine Champion!"
Once he had selected his class, the next prompt was to show up before him. It now was asking him to complete the tutorial for the nation of Japan, saying that the small nation was to require assistance from him and that his task was to rescue any defenseless NPCs from harm. Okay, wait, what!? Koyu was to raise his brow, curious to what this system meant by that? Eh~ so- Koyu was to take on this tutorial then, but he could not help but continue to wonder what was even happening here?
It was a dream, right? It must be, cause how the hell was this reality? If this was his new reality though, this maybe could be quite fun, perhaps. In the background, his pops though was to struggle with the concept of what was occurring, but he was to play along with the prompts, as he had no other choice but not to. However, where may these tutorial prompts take these two unique talents of Japan? In this new digital game world, they were to need to carve new legacies, or a legacy- If they have yet to before.
In the loading time of what felt to be an eternity, Koyu was to be made unconscious, asleep. However, then, before he even noticed he was out cold, the young man then awoke- It was not the city of Seoul. Indeed, this must be Japan, but what caused the change of Tokyo this rapidly? Koyu was to smile with glee. It has been a while, Japan~ the man thought to himself. Koyu was to stand, his stature tall compared to the woman he found beside him with a rusted pipe. Oh? It must be that she was granted a class too, right? Koyu was to open his mouth, his glee for the thrill of this brand new Tokyo painted across his eerie face.
Koyu: "Yo~ no need to pinch your cheek, sweetheart. It should be obvious now, this our new reality. Oh~ I missed you, my dear Tokyo."
In the heart of Tokyo, Koyu's eyes were to light up with a fire. It was beautiful; Koyu has dreamt of cyberpunk cityscapes adorned with neon lights, but never once had thought that one day, that this was to become reality. It dazzled the young man to his very core.
Koyu: "Hm~ Miss, you have an assignment, right? I do too. I have to be frank though, I hate the one I received."
It was clear Koyu was not quite motivated with the objective that was granted to him, but he had no choice but to follow the mission.
