It was certainly an interesting little advert she had seen as she had been browsing some help wanted posters in the Hub. No matter how dangerous it seemed though she wasn't about to pass up someone who seemed to really need help. They had told her where to meet them and that she would be assisting them taking someone to some kind of healing spring, or at least that was the best she could confirm from the info. Hopefully whenever they showed up they'd be able to explain what was happening a bit better. Until that time though she was free to do some of her own stuff.

Almost immediately at her place at the base of the now cracked and half floating mountain, Summer found a nice little section of soft grass beside a large boulder to keep the worst of the wind off of her. She immediately snuggled in, sliding her arms out of her big puffy jacket, currently rose red to go with her white and red rose t-shirt and a pair of black shorts with a white heart on the thigh. She wrapped her jacket around her more like a blanket before reaching into her inventory and pulling out her sketchbook and some of her pens that she'd managed to find on a recent scavenging trip.

After a moment's thought she also summoned her sword and shield to make sure they'd be at hand in case she needed them. With a thought she planted the sword into the dirt and hung the shield on the top. The glowing pink weapons would also make a decent marker for anyone coming up the mountain to spot her, she wasn't exactly the stealthiest person around after all. With her preparations done and the rest of her items safely on her body or next to her, she curled up and started to sketch out some fun little ideas in her head, mostly of sheep and herself with wings, talking to Enigma had really sparked a wish to be able to fly, maybe she'd get lucky and Earth-Chan would take that into account. Now it was just a waiting game.

Carrying an inert body was making traveling harder than it needed to be. Emir was starting to get really worried about the comatose body of his old guild master. Her condition had fallen from a mysterious illness. It sapped away her strength till it left her in a coma. It was everything Emir could do to find some type of solution to delay her decline. A mystical mountain pond. It was a rumor but it was the most he could do. It was also called impossible to get to. Emir was not sure if he could make it alone, with Pori’s body intact. So he hired extra help to protect it.

“Hello~” Emir made it to the meeting point to find his hired muscle. He was a tiny bit surprised to see such a pretty young lady being it. It was only a bit. Since the world had changed, everyone that could survive at this point had to be strong in their own way. “I am Emir. Are you the escort I hired?”

The Nightwalker just stood there trying not to make the air awkward. He was looking like the definition of suspicious. A man of arabic descent, dressed in black garb, holding a suspicious duffle bag in one hand, and an unconscious loli in the other. America in the olden days would have had him thrown in a prison quickly. Get thing his khopesh was put away. Then again the heavy breathing and flushed face did not help. Emir was in great shape but it was not unnatural like some of the others. Moving at his full speed with extra weight took a lot out of him.

For all she had tried to be aware of her surroundings, especially due to how dangerous the place they were in was, Summer still found herself too engrossed in her art. When the voice sounded from nearby she jumped slightly and snapped her head up, blue eyes wide as she looked at Emir before letting out a soft sigh. She put her art supplies back into her inventory and stood up, smoothly sliding her arms back into the sleeves of her jacket before flicking her hand. The sword and shield planted nearby floated up and over to her, the sword hovering against her back as though sheathed and the shield floating onto her left forearm.

The person talking certainly was a little odd, they were carrying some very strange things. She did remember the ad saying something about taking someone to a mystical healing spring. She was pretty sure it wasn't the conscious person they needed the spring for. Immediately she gave Emir a bright smile and a wave before stepping over to him. "Yep that's me! I'll protect both of you so don't you worry about it!" She gave a thumbs up and a wink before resting her hands on the back of her head. "I uh... I don't do very much damage though, so I hope you can kill stuff!"

With that she turned and looked up the mountain. It was certainly going to be a difficult climb and it was going to be hard for this guy to kill stuff if he was weighed down. "My name's Summer by the way! Squire of Hearts if the class stuff matters to ya!" She looked over her shoulder at him, still smiling. "If you want, I can carry your friend for you. I'm pretty slow so it won't slow me down any more than usual and I don't need my hands to use my weapons, so it keeps yours freed up to fight with. Also makes it easier for me to protect 'em." She would understand if he didn't want to do that but she had absolutely no ulterior motives, she just wanted to make sure everyone was safe.

Emir was happy to have found his hired help. She did not look strong or tough but Emir learned not to judge a book by its cover. “Welp. Here is the party request. It would be a great help if you can grab her as well. I am proficient in the ways of slaughter. This would free me up to take care of anything that comes our way.”

The Harbinger would wait a moment then send the party invite. It would be easier for him to keep track of things if they were in a party. Not to mention Emir felt like killing some things. If they were not in a party it would make it harder for Summer to gain experience points. Being a ranker Emir already had enough and was able to level like crazy. When it was accepted he would start to head off. Leading the way up the mountain for the trio.

“So. What made you decide to accept an escort quest in such a dangerous place? These things are normally dangerous with not much benefit to them.” Emir was making small talk while watching his step. The winter air of the mountain steadily growing colder, traversing upwards would just lead to a snow capped mountain. “Man. It is colder than a frost giant’s balls.”

Emir turned his head to look at summer when he was talking. He did not notice the icicle that was flying towards him. It hit him in the shoulder, sending pain through his body, and knocking him on the ground. If it was not for the medallion he was wearing, Emir may have very well ended up dead. It did not stop the pain that was wreaking havoc on his body.

Suddenly before him was a blue humanoid creature with a nasty smirk. Emir did not know where it came from but understood it was bad news. It raised a blade as if cornering prey to bring it down on him. The darkness of Emir's shadow rose up like sand and created a shield to block the attack, with his good hand he snapped his fingers. The black motes gathered in the air, Emir targeted every living thing within range of this ability, not in his party or Pori, and had the darkness attack it. Devouring it all.

“Are you okay?” Emir asked while grunting in pain. He liked the extra experience from the creatures he killed. The way his body was hurting, not so much. “This is when I wish I had first aid and was paying attention earlier. Let my guard down for a second and almost got destroyed.”
Emir took the damage. Used his NightWalker Core as well as Black Light District AoE. The skill first strike increased the damage, after the 5 point boost to all stats from the Gore Medallion. Emir delivered 130 points worth of damage to the enemies. Which is more than three times their vital stat with defense included. They died.

Why did she accept this mission? That was certainly an interesting thought but luckily the answer came to her pretty quickly. She smiled as she stepped over and took the girl from Emir, holding her close and supporting her with mostly Summer's own right arm so that her shield arm was free and to give her some of the benefit from the warmth that her coat gave her. Even up here the cold wasn't really getting to her at all thanks to the puffy jacket that she wore. She accepted the party request before nodding and starting to move, she was full of energy and had been for some time now, the system giveth and the system taketh away.

"I like helping people. I don't really have any other motives, you seemed like you needed help and it was for a good purpose. Someone was in need it would be cruel of me to ignore that. I like to think I'm pretty good at what I do, so if I want it done right it has to be me, y'know?" She grinned and turned away for a moment to survey their surroundings. Seems like she had turned away at the exact wrong moment though as she missed the attack aimed at Emir but managed to catch the two firing at herself. She turned and threw her shield up, the first ice arrow slamming into the pink buckler and exploding. Wisps of energy like rose petals fluttered over and landed on Emir, healing the wound that the first arrow had inflicted.

Summer then turned her back, letting the second arrow slam into her back and her coat, shattering harmlessly against her and letting her shield the girl's body that she was carrying. With that successfully done she immediately slid over and put her body up against Emir's so that she could cover him with her shield. It didn't seem like it was exactly needed at the moment however as shadow filled the area around them and the bodies of the ice Elves were torn apart. She immediately frowned and glanced over her shoulder to make sure Emir was okay but went back to being on guard. "I am so sorry, I should've caught that. Stick closer to me this time and use me as a shield. If we get into another fight I've got a protective ability I can use on you to keep you safe." She pursed her lips, keeping her shield up but everything was quiet for now.

She let out a soft sigh and started to move forwards, though she made damn sure to stick near Emir this time. She wasn't about to let them get ambushed like that a second time.[break][break]

Emir frowned as he started to get up. He did not bring any healing items. He was in a lot of pain from the damage. It was one of the few times he wished he kept one of them alive. He could have used the scarab and helped repair some of the damage. The Night Chaser was lucky to still be alive. This was the closest he had come to death in some time. It was very exciting. Between his thoughts and pain. He neglected to note that he had even healed because of Summer. It was hard to see the difference between a lot of pain, and a little less than a lot of pain.[break][break]
“That was not your fault. Those things had the land advantage. It was like they teleported to attack, or at least blended in. If we get to the destination I can worry about healing up later. I just have to be more on guard. I am lucky it hit my non-dominant shoulder. Give me a second to distribute some stuff and we can get going.” Emir was smiling and making light of the situation. He was not the one to be hung up on close calls. It was just another chance for him to learn and adapt.[break][break]
The Night Chaser opened his hud. He had received a notification when the elves died. He thought it was a level up. To his disappointment he had only managed to get a new skill. It looked useful enough. He held up his right thumb when he was ready to go. “You do not have to guard me too much. I know I hired you to protect Pori but I would feel bad letting a pretty woman get hurt protecting me.” Emir had his own code of conduct and confidence in his skills. “Not that I do not view you as an equal. I am just unused to such a concept. I cannot say I grew up in a loving family that treated protecting people as priority. As long as you take care of the little girl in your arms. Even if I die. You will be fine.” Emir walked with his head held high as they continued to ascend the mountain.[break][break]
Emir took the damage. Used his NightWalker Core as well as Black Light District AoE. The skill first strike increased the damage, after the 5 point boost to all stats from the Gore Medallion. Emir delivered 130 points worth of damage to the enemies. Which is more than three times their vital stat with defense included. They died.

Summer spent a moment looking around and pursing her lips before slightly shaking her head and stepping closer to Emir. Defending people was what she was good at and it was what this world needed. So many people willing to hurt and kill, there had to be some kind of balance and she was determined to be that balance. "Nuh uh. I'm tough, I can take it, you hired me for protection so I'll protect, you and Pori." There was decisiveness in her voice and she moved into a protective stance, shifting Pori slightly to keep her more covered. No one was going to get hurt if she could help it.

As that moment of focus settled into her mind, as the promise settled within her heart, she felt something within her change. There was a flash and a gleam and all of a sudden a small golden flame burst into life in the middle of Summer's chest and an inner fire settled into her eyes, causing the pink to blaze brightly. A series of system windows appeared in front of her, declaring that her Subclass had been unlocked and what it did. A bright smile settled onto her face and she dismissed them all. This was exactly what she wanted, this was who she was supposed to be!

With a thought she reached out and spread her power, turning to blow Emir a small kiss that sent golden sparks in his direction to settle on him and marking him as her Beacon Knight as well as causing the selfsame flame in her own chest to flare into life on his. "A Beacon of Hope, it's what I will do my best to be and it's the subclass I've been given." She nodded and then started to set off up the mountain again. "None of us will die here, I will promise you that with all that I am. If you didn't get shown it properly when you were younger, I will prove to you the power behind love and hope, just what it can accomplish against all of the odds." She would be the light in the dark, come hell or high water, nothing could stop her now.

Emir did not get far when he heard Summer. He stopped in shock. A subclass was something rare. In fact he was aware of only Nikolas and himself having one. He had a theory that all the other rankers had one as well. That would mean that this young lady must have had some sort of talent. When she started to heal him Emir felt a lightness in his body. Even his injury had healed to a great extent. He had never received healing like this before. It was amazing to say the least.[break][break]
“Whoa! Thanks for that! That is some great healing.” Emir opened his hub because he noticed a new but familiar icon. It was a special party bonus he had before. It was interesting to see again. Whenever Nik was in a party with him they had a certain boost. Emir did have an ability to heal but it was great when Nik did it for him. This time it was even better. Summer looked like she was holy aligned and healed a lot better than Nik.[break][break]
“Out of curiosity. What do you plan on doing after the mission?” As they made their way up the mountain. Emir decided it was time to try and recruit this potential ranker. It would do him and his future guild some good. That and the hidden castle in question was not far from what he could see. They were getting closer to their destination.

It was a pretty expansive question she had been asked, there was a lot that she wanted to do but what were her actual plans? She hummed quietly in thought as they continued up the mountain, she hopped over a few rocks and moved up to a slightly higher ledge. With a thought her sword floated down and acted as a stepping stone, letting her hop up onto it and then up and onto the ledge above, pulling herself and Pori up pretty easily. She wasn't the strongest but what she did have was endurance now and she wasn't even the slightest bit tired after all of this exertion.

With her thinking break done she decided to actually respond to her conscious companion. "I don't really have any plans. Maybe I'll head back to Ender Island? I heard that there are some new tribes showing up there that I wanna go talk to. Should be a bunch of people there that need some help too! Or who knows, maybe another world boss will show up like Fake Santa, he was really annoying." She gave a shrug as though it wasn't very important, repositioning her sword so that it could act as a stepping stone for Emir as well to get him up to the ledge with her.

She did crouch near the ledge to look around though, if anyone was going to strike it might be during this vulnerable moment and she was fully ready to just throw her entire self down the ledge again to get in the way of an attack. "What about you, Emir? Do you have anything fun planned? You seem like you're really strong so I imagine you've probably fought your own share of big monsters and bosses." She gave him a smile as she said that, she wasn't entirely sure she was needed for this mission but she was just happy to be here and be helpful.

Emir was listening to any clues of the shield girl working in a group. He was starting to feel better from his injuries as well. It was a great booster to his mood. Emir was starting to feel like he could take on a dragon for fun. It was an interesting feeling to note the increased healing factor of his own body.[break][break]
His attention was grabbed at her mention of Santa. Emir thought her name sounded familiar when she talked about the first boss, it was able to click in his mind. Summer was one of the people who got the first clear for it. It was an accomplishment that stood out to him. When she said it his thoughts were on recruiting her full stop. This was the kind of Elite person that he wanted to be on his side. If he got her that would make three members of the guild already.[break][break]
“I have some plans. One is finding this base I heard about. If it works I am going to reopen my guild for recruitment. It would be a small thing for no more than six people. It is just a pain in the butt finding the best of the best. Speaking of. If you are looking for a place and a family to party with. Before he could get an answer. Emir noticed a small castle statue on the mountain. The white of the statue was covered with the flurry of snow that fell all around them. Emir rushed to it in a gleeful manner. “Holy cow this is it! This is the destination.” He breathed over it. “Sorry, did not mean to cut you off from answering my offer. However, Would you mind looking for a circular groove somewhere in the base of the castle?”[break][break]

She had been expecting a few things while out on this mission but a guild invitation? She knew that they existed and there were a few starting up but this one sounded a little different. Or maybe it was just the fact that she was a tank? There weren't many of those floating around, at least not that she had met. Running up towards him and the statue he had found she took a look at it before turning and giving him a bright, warm smile and a thumbs up. She took her coat off and wrapped Pori in it before finding a little nook to nestle her into and then she placed her buckler over the girl's form to double protect her from any hits. Summer could take them even without her items but there weren't many people like her out there. With that done she crouched down and started to look at the statue more closely. It was definitely a nice statue and she had to brush away some snow to get some of the details. Without her coat on it was also quite cold but Pori was more important at the moment.

"I'd love to have a proper group to work with, we could do a lot of good in this world, save a lot of people! Having a new family would also be nice, I've got Auri who is my pretend-husband but I've not really got anyone else past that, other than some friends, actually having some people to stay with would be really nice. I make some killer cookies by the way!" She grinned up at Emir before shifting another chunk of snow and ice, revealing a circlular indentation in the base of the statue that she had to clear out with her fingertips, scraping the snow out. "I found what you were looking for I think... I can't see any other circular slots anyway." She gave a shrug and hopped up, taking her items back and holding Pori close to her again.

He was just excited to have another member to his guild. Pori would have been first choice since the guild was originally hers. Since the little vegetable handed it over to him. It meant that it was his to do as he pleased. He took the guild and had to run with it. She was important but did not count as a guild mate.[break][break]
Emir would wait a moment for Summer to accept before continuing. “Anyway. This statue is a high ranking treasure. It was rumored to be able to function as an access port for a guild hall. Since you are a part of the guild you are privy to knowing this info. The mission would have been completed now otherwise and you would have had to leave. The statue started to glow. The light started to build till it became blinding. Emir averted his gaze to let it pass. When it stopped the statue was in the shape of Pori’s slime form. An alert was made to the region signifying the Everest region as the guild Elite’s new area of work. It also created a magic circle to the castle, instead of a regular door. They got a magic circle with the guild symbol etched on it. When a guild member stepped on it. Their specific color would glow before sending them to their room or other specific area.[break][break]
Emir was enjoying the site of the magical castle that was now their home. “I hope you don’t mind. You can put Pori down. Now that I have found the place. I need to gather the rest of us. You can feel free to come with me, or see what this place has to offer.”[break][break]
