Monsters were a problem everywhere, it seemed. Most of the higher-level missions, Nell had noticed, were typically hunting and slaying monsters. It posed a problem for Nell, as she wasn't that high of a level yet. However, there were a few missions she felt she could safely take on with or without a partner. Seoul, Korea held one such mission. She had prepared herself for the fight, wondering what sort of creatures they would end up fighting. It didn't matter; in the end they would perish, Nell would turn them into the researchers that requested the mission, and all would be well. She'd gain Earth-chan's experience the good old-fashioned way, through good, hard work.[break][break]
How they were going to collect ocean animals sounded like the more difficult matter of the equation. Nell didn't have anything that would give her underwater breathing or the like. She could swim, sure, but not nearly that well. That and she still wasn't exactly sure just how her weapon worked with underwater resistance against force. The best plan she'd had was to fish up anything and try to fight it at the surface of the water. Too bad she didn't have a fishing pole.[break][break]
A menu popped up in front of her. Her eyes focused on the words - the mission had been accepted by someone else as well. Good. Perhaps she could talk with them about how they wanted to lure ocean creatures up to be killed. She found a bench to sit on, crossed on leg over the other, and waited patiently with her eyes closed. She listened closely to the docks she had chosen to begin the mission on; to the waves and people passing by, waiting specifically for footsteps walking up to her.

Monsters were a blessing everywhere, it seemed! The transition to this new, video-gamey world that Earth-chan brought Mr. Beast into was absolutely brimming with them; no matter where he went he had the opportunity to meet all kinds of whimsical and interesting creatures. Mr. Beast loved meeting the creatures, but the only thing about them that upset him was... that some times beating them in combat was the only solution. He felt it made the world a little bit too gamey in that aspect and that aspect alone, but if it was what Earth-chan wanted well, he'd happily accept their wishes!
"Come, Ragline, it would appear this quest already has another partaking in it. We will be joined by new-friends in our search for the ocean creatures!" Mr. Beast and his catlike companion Ragline had found a monster-themed quest to accept in Seoul, one that likely would have them defeating monsters in order to complete. The man had gone over the details with his companion before accepting it, and only after doing so did he learn that someone else had already done the same. "Let us head to the beach and meet up with them!"
The man placed his sunhat on his head to complete the look as he made his way toward the ocean. His shorts and floral button-up made him look like a stereotypical tourist, but in Ragline's case, he was simply adorable. "KAHAHAHA, you are so silly my friend! You have sunscreen still on your nose!" As the duo made their way up onto a dock, they would notice the woman waiting there. "Pardon, Miss."
Mr. Beast bowed to Nell as he got her attention, with Ragline following suit. "You... are also here to help with the scientist's mission, yes?" A smile crept its way across the bulking man's face, happy to have another ally in this mission. "Wonderful! I am Mr. Beast, and this is my Ragline; a pleasure!" He turned to face the ocean and the beach below, placing a finger to his chin in thought.
"Now then, I suppose it's a question of finding some critters. I did bring this," The man reached into his pocket, bringing out a cannister of fish flakes from his pet shop. "Fish of all variety love them, so perhaps this creature will as well!"

Ideas kept bouncing in her head. Maybe they could find an old fishing boat to borrow. With a harpoon? Or find or make some chum, somehow. A harpoon by itself wouldn't attract sea creatures, she was sure. What did attract them? Just food? She didn't know too much about fish or other sea creatures. All she knew was that she liked to eat whatever was edible from the seas; and and crustacean alike, anything she had tried she'd liked.[break][break]
A few minutes of her eyebrows furrowed, deep in thought, she heard a voice. "Pardon, Miss." Her eyes simple opened, not bothering to move. The man in front of her was very large and buff. As much as she was taken by surprise - she hadn't thought her partner would be so beefed up - she remained calm and collected on the outside. She'd seen men who worked out before, sure - just maybe not also as tall as this man was. "I am," she responded simply, still not quite moving from her seat.[break][break]
She stood finally after he introduced himself, a hand naturally placed on the pommel of her sword - not a suspecting move itself, it was just a natural thing for her to do now. "My name is Nell." She blinked at the cannister he pulled out, leaning a little to get a better look at it. At least one of them came prepared. "Should we get a boat to move out into the ocean more?" The docks were wide enough that she was sure they could fight just about anything there, though it might be easier to attract a sea creature closer to its home. On the flip side, it might be more difficult fighting a sea creature on a small boat with limited space..

"Wonderful idea Miss Nell, a boat is just what we need here! Come, Ragline, let's see if we can't find one to make it out to sea." Mr. Beast let Ragline lead the pack, guiding the way down the dock to a place where a good selection of boats awaited. The catlike creature was excited to have found one so soon, and ran over to the edge of the pier to eagerly point at a dinghy he found.
"Haha, yes my friend that is indeed a boat. For the three of us, however, I suspect we'll want something a tad bit larger. Let's try again!" Further down, the selection of boats widened. More dinghy's sat in the water, but so too did larger fishing boats, yachts, speed boats, sailboats, almost any kind of boat imaginable was here!
"Hmm... the yacht looks like it would give us the most room to navigate and move around in the case of a fight, but I must admit... I have no idea how to drive such a thing." It had a decent section of walking space on the backside of it that would allow them to fight uninterrupted, but if they couldn't pilot the thing then unfortunately it simply wasn't an option. "Oh! How about this one?" Mr. Beast pointed over to a slightly smaller fishing boat. The nets and lines that covered the interior took up a lot of room, but if they set those aside, it too would have a good amount of room to move around for a fight!
"It's not so complex as the yacht, I think it'll be perfect for what we need if we clear up some room on it. Thoughts, Miss Nell?"

Nell followed the large man and his cat-looking pet past several boats. Once he mentioned not knowing how to drive a boat, Nell considered it an issue as well. "We would need to find a spot to stop before trying to find any beasts.. we couldn't have someone driving the boat while the other fights alone. I can drive a smaller boat, but I have no idea about larger ones like that yacht." It would certainly give them plenty of room to fight, of course. "Another issue I just thought of.. how large do you think the creatures can get we must fight? If they get big enough we may have to worry about a smaller boat being capsized." She didn't feel like she needed to point out the amount of danger they would be in with a capsized boat out in the middle of the ocean. If there were enough creatures, they'd be dead in minutes.[break][break]
As she continued, she was distracted by checking out the smaller available boats. As soon as she stopped looking at the water, she caught something in the corner of her eye flash at her leg. By the time she'd drawn her sword she was already being dragged into the water by a thick tail. She slashed her weapon to deal her MAGI damage at the tail and it let her go. She broke the surface of the water and tried desperately to get back up on the docks, but there weren't any ladders near enough. She turned back to her attacker, finding a serpent-like creature had also broken the surface of the water. It lashed out at her, striking her body. She grunted in pain.

Just as he was about to share more of his thoughts with Nell, action broke out. He saw the woman try to draw her sword only to fall down into the water below. ”Nell!” Rushing to the water’s edge, Mr. Beast was met by her struggling in the water with what looked to be a sea serpent of some kind… and sure enough, this was a big one. ”Ragline, grab the life rings!”
As Ragline raced to get the safety equipment, Mr. Beast tore his shirt from his chest and tossed it aside onto the dock with his hat. He put his hands together and dove into the water, ready to help in whatever way he could. This was a tough one, but it looked as though there was really only one thing he could do here.
Mr. Beast swam at the monster and attempted to grab its tail to pull it away from Nell. Unfortunately, the beast was much more adept at maneuvering through the water and was able to twist itself free. He tried again, this time managing to wrap his arms around the monster’s neck, but its continued twisting ended up causing more harm than good as it cut into the man’s hands.
Mr. Beast was determined to hang on, but the serpent was even more determined to escape; it suddenly gained very Slippery Skin, allowing it to quickly slither out of the man’s grasp and reposition itself. This wasn’t the end of the fight by any means; in fact, if anything the monster just looked even more pissed off now!
A pair of splashes nearby drew the man’s attention. Ragline had managed to find a couple of Life Rings, buoyant rings with ropes attached to the pier in case of an emergency–This was definitely an emergency! ”Good man, keep them coming!” Mr. Beast grabbed one, helping the other towards Nell if she needed it, and wiggled his way into it. ”Huzzah! With these as our safety net, I think our chances have improved a bit!”

The attack had left Nell a little on the confused side. Mr. Beast's quick reaction and struggle with the serpent gave Nell enough time to collect her thoughts after being dragged into the water. So it seemed there were creatures that would stay closer to the surface of the water. The thing - now that she was able to get a good look on it - was long and stocky, and seemed perfect for ambush-type attacks. The woman looked over as life rings began to plop into the water. It would restrict movement a bit - but not much more than being on a boat would have, so she couldn't complain.[break][break]
"Good idea - it'll be harder for it to pull either of us under again." Tactics and quick reaction time were needed with ambush predators, which Mr. Beast seemed to have both of. Nell put her arm around one of the life rings. She wasn't necessarily worried about drowning on her own, but if the serpent pulled her down far enough it'd happen anyway. Even if the resistance from the life ring only helped a little, it was better than nothing.[break][break]
Her eyes turned back toward the creature. It seemed to be readying an attack, pulling back slightly. Nell got ready just in case, putting her sword in front of her and gripping the handle in such a way that a beam of white light erupted from the sharp side of the blade toward the creature. The [Refraction Slice] beamed toward the creature just as it let out an even faster eruption of water. The [Water Spout] and [Refraction Slice] met, but Nell's white beam overpowered the water and sent both abilities at the serpent's face.[break][break]
As the serpent was dealing with the damage of the two abilities hitting it, Nell paddled in and struck the thing with her blade again for her MAGI damage.

"Magnificent!" Watching Nell and the beast duke it out was certainly a spectacle to behold. The woman's sword released a slash just as the sea serpent spat a bout of water her way, but the slash was so power that it managed to even redirect the water! Mr. Beast would never stop being amazed at all the fantastical things people were capable of in Earth-chan's new world. As Nell went in for more strikes, Mr. Beast gathered another of the buoys that Ragline had tossed down.
With one around his waist and another in tow, the man swam towards the beast. Being here in the water and feeling the buoyancy had given him an idea. Though they had no boat or fishing rods, these rings were the perfect items to wrap around a beast like this! If they could catch it through a loop, Ragline could tow it in and they could finally get out of the water. The only problem would be getting it on there...
Mr. Beast got nearer to the serpent, but his movements didn't go unnoticed. Nell had been able to occupy the monster for a moment, but with its Slippery Skin, it was able to flick around and SLAM its tail into Mr. Beast, flipping it down from above in the Perfect way to knock him underwater. The man's hand jerked to his mouth to keep himself from shouting out all his air, but he spun down a meter, then two, before finally the rope his life ring was attached to went taut.
Without that ring, he could've been a goner right there... That potentially-disastrous scenario was enough to get Mr. Beast's brain racing. As the man started to float back towards the surface, an idea struck him. Light flashed from his location beneath the waves as he activated his ability, [Giga Load], on Ragline.
From up on the docks, Ragline would suddenly find himself rapidly growing, doubling in size as the line he held onto gave a pair of tugs. This was a signal, a sign for the pet to HEAVE with all its might! As Mr. Beast rapidly ascended, he gave the serpent a taste of it's own medicine, crashing into it from underneath to push it up into the air. Even if it was for a moment, the man hoped it would be enough to disorient the serpent and give them the upper-hand.
"Huzzah! Nice try, Monster, but the bond between me and Ragline isn't something you can separate!"

At the surface of the water, Nell watched as the serpent slammed its tail into Mr. Beast and sent him flying - well, flowing - through the water. She couldn't see him as deeply as he had sunk, but she could only focus on the monster for now. Even though he still seemed full of spunk his movements were more sluggish than before. Nell noticed his pants between movements as well - a tell sign he was losing vitality. It too, for a short moment, was interested in where Mr. Beast was and had its back - did it even have a back? - turned to Nell. She shot forward as quickly as she could, striking another blow into its neck and pulling the blade out, dealing her [MAGI] damage.[break][break]
The beast roared and turned on Nell, but just as Mr. Beast broke the water again, it fell. Its limp body floated on the surface of the water. Nell let out a deep breath and panted before getting her breathing under control. Nell finally flicked some wet hair out of her eyes, holding onto the life ring and leaning back, but not far enough that she tumbled. "I suppose I should have expected to get wet.." She wasn't wearing good clothes for the occasion of swimming in the ocean. She looked at Mr. Beast, then at Ragline before putting her glimmering sword in its sheath.[break][break]
"You two are close then, I take it?" Whatever he'd done, he certainly had a close enough bond with the cat-thing that it understood to help him up. She'd seen the thing pulling the rope to the life ring around Mr. Beast just out of the corner of her eye - also how large the cat-thing had gotten!

"Woah, you really are amazing!" Seeing Nell fight and beat up on this monster was still something Mr. Beast found to be super impressive. He was only just starting to get used to combat and fighting all the monsters hidden away in this world, but she was a natural at this. With their combined efforts, the sea serpent went limp and floated to the top of the water.
Now that they had a moment to relax, Mr. Beast put one of the rings around the monster's body as he chatted. "Ah yes, definitely close! Isn't that right, Ragline! I couldn't do any of this without you!" Ragline let out a happy mrow from the dock, though it had a bit more bass to it due to his increase in size.
Swimming back over to the dock, Mr. Beast climbed out with Ragline's assistance. He then got to work towing in the monster's body and heaving it onto the dock. "Well, would you look at how lucky we are! Not only for beating the beast, but also... this is exactly what we need for the mission!" Ragline raised his paws in the air to cheer, simultaneously as he shrunk back down to his regular size. The man began to unwind the life rings from the monster so that he could haul it away, when suddenly he felt... a beat?
"Wait a second... Are you still alive, Sea Beast?!" Weakly, the serpent blinked and wiggled its jaw. "Ah, what a dilemma. I'm afraid I cannot send you back to sea, for fear of what harm you may cause to others. But I cannot just leave you here either... Mr. Beast tilted his head in thought, only to have Ragline come over and tug on him.
The cat had a look of joy on its face and waved its hands in the air eagerly. "Wh-what? You think we could bring him along?" Mr. Beast's face shone confusion, but only for a moment before also switching to joy. "What a marvelous idea Ragline! Why, with this class of mine, that just might work! I do apologize for putting you into this predicament Mr. Sea Serpent, but I believe you coming with us is the best option. Only then can I heal you up..."
Mr. Beast raised a hand, palm upward towards the sea serpent, and let it rest next to the monster's head. "But truly, the choice is yours." He wasn't sure what the monster would want, but feel a wave of relief wash over him as the beast lifted its head to rest it on Mr. Beast's hand.
With a flash similar to the one that had enveloped Ragline earlier, The Sea Serpent suddenly shrunk in size. It changed into what looked to be a weaker version of itself, but most importantly... it looked safe. With the bodily change, however, it did cough up a few dead fish.
"Oh my gosh, that was certainly not what I expected! But with these..." Mr. Beast used his torn shirt to scoop up the dead fish and raise them for Nell to see. "I think we STILL meet the mission requirements! Isn't that something?!"

Nell glanced at Mr. Beast. "Thanks.. you did well yourself." Nell paddled toward the dock herself and heaved her wet body onto the dock. Before doing anything else, she started wringing water from the excess material on her clothes and wiping as much as she could from her skin. She was absolutely soaked and stunk of seawater, and would continue to be until she managed a shower and clean clothes somewhere. For a second she thought before detaching her sheath, taking out the sword once more, and upturning the sheath. A flurry of ocean water dumped from the extra space in it. After the water was emptied, she sheathed her sword and reattached it to her hip.[break][break]
She watched as Mr. Beast pulled the heavy creature onto the dock as well. She came over to help halfway through, even though he seemed to have it well under control. She hated sitting by and watching others work. She sat back on the dock once the creature was up. One creature was all that battle was for. But as Mr. Beast was closer to it, he apparently noticed it wasn't dead yet. Nell immediately drew her sword, ready to slash at it again and hopefully actually end it this time until Mr. Beast and his cat-thing seemed to come to some kind of mutual understanding.[break][break]
Mr. Beast raised his hand, Nell prepared her weapon in case the beast attacked again, but the creature acted.. gentler this time? She froze for a moment, her eyes not leaving the sea serpent until it had finished it's apparent transformation into a smaller version of itself. To which it also evacuated some of the food it had previously eaten. Nell stared at Mr. Beast as he held up the fish, sheathing her sword again. She frowned, wondering if the fish would fulfill the mission they'd been assigned. They were technically still sea creatures, so it was possible. "I suppose you're technically right.."

"Hmmm, well, if we'd rather not leave it up to chance," Mr. Beast could sense that Nell was a bit skeptical about whether this fish would count for their goal. "I certainly wouldn't mind to continue our search. If this fight here has taught me anything, I think I'd rather not fight in on the water in the case of another serpent showing up..." Though Mr. Beast didn't worry about much, being knocked underwater had been a fair bit frightening. If he hadn't had the rope to catch him, who knows what could've happened.
Looking towards the area around them, an idea crossed his mind. "Perhaps the beach may have some use to us? If whatever had been happening around here is common enough, we may come across beached samples! Even if not, I'm sure we'd stumble upon a tide pool eventually" Ragline gave the man a curious look at the mention of that, causing him to turn and try to give a demonstration with his hands.
"Ah, see, where the ocean is BIG and VAST and ENDLESS and full of secrets, tide pools are much the same, but TINY. Imagine a wave washing up on the beach, but getting stuck and not being able to flow back out. That's a tide pool, with sea water and all kinds of interesting life included!"
Turning back to their little group as a whole, Mr. Beast continued. "If we do happen to find one, I'm sure we could find smaller samples inside of it--and in a much safer way.

Maybe she was just being cautious. Maybe she just was itching for another fight. But another look at the fish and she figured they should actually do the trick. They were, after all, creatures of the sea still. And there were plenty. She shrugged and pointed a finger at the fish. They might do well to look for tide pools, but Nell also wanted to get cleaned up as soon as she could. "I'm likely just being over-cautious. I'm sure those fish will do just fine."[break][break]
She put a finger to her chin. It would be a decent idea to continue their hunt and find more creatures, but anything in a tide pool would likely be just as good as the fish from the serpent's belly. And she was also certain Mr. Beast was excited to get his new pet - or whatever it was considered - back to his home.
