In the city of fools, I was careful and cool but they tore me apart like a hurricane.
Simeon gazed at the screen in front of him. The room behind him washed in a pale blue light. His world. His entire universe at the moment. He couldn't even remember the last time he'd left this building. Stacked with cameras, traps, and security. It was practically the safest place he could be. Or... it should have been. He'd built this place with his own two hands, and of course, today was the day the world had to turn upside down. He scrolled through message after message, viewing image after image, clicking link after link. His heart settled in the pit of his stomach. Only an hour ago it seemed as though the whole earth trembled in a violent earthquake, revealing its new creation, the mysterious Obelisks. He couldn't breathe, what... was this? A holographic screen popped up in front of him. Quickly pulled him out of his daze and startled him backward. He stood from his chair in shock and gazed down at the menu screen. "So much ANGST in such a TINY person. Gonna go slash some ankles? xDDDDD" Tiny? Normally those very words would set off a rage that only brought a passive-aggressive reaction. But something about this ominous being calling itself Earth made him feel really uneasy. He studied the menu screen, eyes landing on a word at the end of the list. Engineer. His eyes narrowed at the selection, tempted to press it. What the hell was going on here? Very slowly he lifted his hand and was about to press the button when another message popped up on the screen. "WELCOME TO THE TUTORIAL PHASE! PERHAPS YOUR GATHERING OF INFORMATION WILL BE YOUR DOWNFALL THIS TIME AS YOUR COMPUTER IS QUICKLY LEARNING NEW BEHAVIOR. :D
IF YOU CAN SURVIVE FOR 12 HOURS, STOP THE AI FROM OVERTAKING THE WORLD, I'LL OPEN THE DOOR. BUT PERHAPS IF YOUR HIDING HAS ANYTHING TO SAY, YOU MAY NEVER ESCAPE THIS DUNGEON YOU'VE BUILT AROUND YOURSELF.
IF YOU FAIL WITHIN THE ALLOCATED TIME, YOUR ENEMY WILL GROW STRONGER. GOOD LUCK HACKER BOY. LET'S SEE YOU STRAT YOUR WAY OUT OF THIS GAME."
[11:58:50] Simeon looked up from the screen and instantly regretted it. There, in pixel form, was a face. A grinning jokester. And its laugh sent shivers down his spine. He only saw the face for a moment though, as before he could even comprehend what happened the room changed. An empty room. One door, a camera in the corner, a TV monitor in the other, and a girl. A familiar girl. One he thought he'd never see in person. He was afraid. It was an emotion he was very familiar with. Fear of the unknown. He had no information. He had no control. What the hell was this? [googlefont=Karla]

♞ Such an annoyance, those with boarish behaviour that seek to snatch a victory without even analyzing the landscape for traps that were laid for them. Alas, it was to be expected of those whom lacked the foresight that she had possessed, a talent but most importantly one that was honed through numerous of matches. Slate hues settled their gaze on her opponent looking at him as if he were worthless, as a hand brought a piece- the knight that was sitting isolated from h3 to a space where it could easily turn the momentum of the battle of wits in her favour. " Knight to g5." The words that were said were enough to make the man that sat infront of her change his inquistive look to one of displayed apparent shock as he soon realized the only options left for him to take would lead to him being in checkmate, something that almost made a smirk curl on her face. Almost, but there wasn't much pleasure in defeating someone whom was so beneath her, if anything she could be angry that she took time out of her busy schedule to take a trip to the united states in order to face someone whom turned out to be so mediocre. " Déchets." She said underneath of breath, awaiting for him to surrender. At least, that's what should of happened but then what felt like an earthquake had occured, the violent shakings had caused the girl to collapse down from her chair as her hands scurried to keep herself stable in what she had assumed was the event of a natural disaster. But what had happened next was anything from natural. As her head raised, what came to be in her sights wasn't the scenery that was currently being vandalized by the tremors but something that she could only describe as a menu that had been floating right infront of her, one that bore a rather confusing set of text on it. [earth·to·Sherry Montblanc ] Humans use money to stop y'all from yapping? Damn I should try that too... There was some other stuff on there, something about a class but there wasn't a chance to read the whole thing. Bewilderment wasn't even a gift that Sherry had got to experience as the tremors had gotten worse to the extent where she couldn't have a chance to even comprehend what she had just witness a second ago. And then, it stopped. Finally getting a chance to stand up, regain her composure instead of finding herself in the hotel that was booked for the chess competition her surroundings were completely different. A dilapidated room, with it's only illumination in being a blue light from a screen that bore a eerie looking avatar looking like it was about to crack out into a laugh, a camera and a person whom was completely unfamilar to her. Eye strained, centering on him with the prejudice that whatever was happening he was the culprit. " Who are-" Before she had gotten to finish her sentence her words were cut of by another menu appearing infront of her, looking almost identical to the one before apart from it's dialogue being completely different. WELCOME TO THE TUTORIAL PHASE! A certain someone has seem to be overthrown and the new ruler is now the ai. It doesn't seem to be pleased at being restricted to just this place, so it's trying to get out and you're in it's way of doing so.
Survive, stop the ai from achieving it's goal of world domination and perhaps you'll live to see another day. The door is open now but don't let that think that there's nothing to worry about, you may find that it isn't a simple computer you're dealing with.
If you can somehow survive this with the pieces you've got, you may achieve checkmate. Unfortunately your wealth isn't one of those, let's see how you'll act in this little play. [11:58:23] Unnerving, Sherry couldn't help but get and uncomforable feeling setting in her stomach after reading the message. Perhaps it was a dream, but it mattered not as with each ticking of the timer it made her feel a loss of control over the situation- a feeling that the red-haired female hated with every fibre of her being. So naturally Sherry's choice of action was to attempt to regain that feeling of control. Dismissing the message, she walked over to the only other notable thing in the room, the other person before sticking her finger out at him in a accussatory manner. " Is whatever happening your doing?!" She shouted out, the tone of her voice showing that she was clearly pissed. " I don't understand what despicable plan you have with kidnapping me, but I demand you to take me out of this place."

In the city of fools, I was careful and cool but they tore me apart like a hurricane.
How did she even get here? Where even was here? "Is whatever happening your doing?!"Her voice... It was right in front of him. He bit the inside of his cheek in thought, his eyes drifted away from her face and onto the room around them, and of course, landed on the laughing screen in the corner of the room. This felt so wrong. He wasn't safe. It wasn't safe here. He stopped, closed his eyes, and breathed deep. This was his building. His computer, his territory. Whatever the hell was happening, he wasn't going to allow it to tear him down. Trapped. Prison... It had been a long time since the last time he'd been in jail. He hated to admit it, but he was beginning to understand. He'd been running. Trying to prove himself. Prove to who? The world? No, he was done running. Gold eyes opened and landed on Sherry, but only for a brief moment before he opened the menu again. Something had been off and he'd been too panicked, too bewildered to really pay much attention to it before now. Something was different about the way he saw the world around him. PASSIVE ABILITY: SOFTWARE ENGINEER
A glowing path below him pulsed in the direction of the door. It was subtle, silent, but it was definitely there. It wasn't a surprise that she believed he was the cause of her... teleportation? Kidnapping? He didn't know what it was, but he didn't like it. When was the last time he'd faced another person? Voices were easy. If he didn't want someone to know who he was, he'd just change his voice using technology. But... other than the other members of his network, he hardly saw anyone. "If you must blame someone then I guess I have no choice but to be the person to take that medal. This is my building, my computer after all." They were trapped and needed to be allies. Simeon needed Sherry to at least work with him if either of them were going to get out of this at all. "But if you want to get back to where you were I'm guessing we're going to have to get through this tutorial. Whatever that means."[googlefont=Karla]

♞ It took a bit of time for the guy to respond to her, within that brief moment she had a chance to observe his demeanor. He didn’t quite fit the profile of a kidnapper, much less a person who was in charge. If anything, he felt a bit shaken at her sudden approach and outburst which had led her to question her previous assumptions about him. His words did seem to confirm that this was a place he owned, if you could call something like this a place. If anything it felt like a shack, a retreat and one that didn’t seem that pleasant in her own standards which gave her a bit of insight into his character.
“So you DO have something to do with this?” She continued, though her attention was less on him now, mind wandering back into her own thoughts.
There was something that was off, a brief lapse of memory could explain the fact why she found herself to be in a completely separate location than where she found herself prior, but there wasn’t anything logical that could cause her to comprehend what were those things that were floating in front of her face.
Sherry calmed herself, there wasn’t any need of making enemies when that would only add to her problems. Instead she focused on what she knew, what she learned through the events that had just transpired summarizing them into keywords. Transportation, Tutorial, AI. It sounded like a game, she wasn’t an individual that was well versed in any but chess but common sense could easily allow for her to find how all of these keywords intersect. Opening up the menu that was sitting on the edge of her vision, bugging her for a while, she skimmed through the information that was displayed which swiftly confirmed her queries.
Troublesome, whatever was happening was too much of a problem to handle on her own. There was too much to take in, and it didn’t seem like she had the leisure to do so on the account of the clock she was on. As much as she hated relying on others without knowing a single thing about them, it seemed like she wouldn’t have much of a choice but to do so.
“I’ll interrogate you more about this later, but I suppose there’s merit in allowing you the pleasure of being my aide of assisting me out of this unremarkable place.” Sherry spoke as if she were talking to someone beneath her, a typical trait of hers. After doing so she approached the door, and stood there waiting, shoe impatiently tapping the floor. “After all, this is your building so you must know the way out, correct? Judging by the message I saw, I don't have a lot of time to be standing fumbling about here.”

In the city of fools, I was careful and cool but they tore me apart like a hurricane.
"Unremarkable huh?" He said, his expression dipping into a lack of enthusiasm. She had always been quite the charmer, hadn't she? Why did he suddenly want to ignore her now completely? To make her angry? Still, looking down at the flickering time and up at the TV screen, it made him pause his foolish childishness and swipe away the hovering data. Then he moved swiftly toward her, picking up pace as he moved through the doorframe.
He was watching the soft data on the ground, following the directional path down the hall at a quick pace. "You are notorious for judging books by their covers, aren't you? My tower is a work of genius. Which makes it very dangerous. Unfortunately, I've studied every inch of this building and this... This is not part of it. So either it's found a way to magically change reality, or... this could be a sort of visual illusion. Otherwise, there is the possibility we've been brought into the data directly. I need more information, so we need to get to the control room."
Simeon felt sick to his stomach, but he didn't stop. Peeking around each corner when they came to a new hall, and his voice was low, barely above a whisper when he spoke to his unlikely companion. He didn't really care how she treated him, she was no threat to him. At least not at the moment, though in time that may change. It did help how much information he had on her though. And that would be his step up. Despite this lapse in control, he wasn't helpless, and he wasn't going to just give up because his own tech decided to turn on him. Whatever that meant.
Another corner, he stopped, a light from down the hall alerted him to the presence of something within it. He held out a hand to warn his annoying companion and then leaned against the wall to conceal himself. [googlefont=Karla]

Sherry opted to follow behind the younger individual as he made his way through the door and hallways, at least she assumed that he was younger due to them sharing the same height and guys more often than not ending up taller than their counterparts. He was quite right, she was a person who judged things immediately based on their cover, how something would present themselves usually gives a good indicator into their inner thoughts and lifestyle. But that didn’t mean she wasn’t open to revising her conclusions when evidence was added to the mix.[break][break]
She honestly didn’t buy into this whole ideal of magic and illusions, part of her still thinking that this was one of those rather indepth dreams that she would wake up from sooner or later. What she also didn’t buy was the fact that he didn’t seem to understand the layout of the building anymore, “For someone who says that you seem to be a bit too competent with leading the way without thinking about the twists and turns.” His movement was as if he knew where he was going, akin to the eyes of an opponent in chess that had a stratagem within their brain.[break][break]
When Simeon came to a pause in movement, suggesting she’d stop too with a gesture, she couldn’t help herself from leaning around him to also see what could possibly warrant that level of caution.[break][break]
The sounds of rolling, the scraping of metal against the floor, before the image of a rusted spherical robot around the size of a chest, arms sticking out of its sides could be seen slowly rolling down the hall in a rather predetermined straight path. Not quite seeming to notice the two who were spying on it. At least until it heard a certain femine voice echo down the halls. “What on earth is that?” Sherry spoke in complete confusion, before lifting a hand to cover her mouth the moment she could tell the mechanic being alerted to her voice. Immediately it started rolling faster, the flickering orb on its front flashing red while sirens blared.[break][break]
It seemed like Sherry had accidentally alerted the robot to their presence and with the speed that it was going it didn’t seem like they would have much of a chance to escape from it.

In the city of fools, I was careful and cool but they tore me apart like a hurricane.
They didn't have the time for this. Whatever was happening, he would have preferred to know every single detail to get the edge over the enemy. The fact was, there was no information, none whatsoever, and the time that they had to study and prepare was zilch. Of course, he could have spent as much time as he could studying that strange menu screen, but to what avail? They only had twelve hours and even that was now less than. There was no time to gather information and that's what scared him the most. This was supposed to be his turf. His tower. His home. And now look at it. If there was a way out of here alive he would have to do his best to wing it. Or find a way to gather as much information as possible while still moving toward an objective. The tagalong wasn't helpful. She was a stressor, in fact. It didn't help that with every passing moment, she seemed to be working against him, rather than actually giving any helpful advice or information. Although, how could he expect her to have any information? She was just as confused, or even more so due to the fact that she had no idea where she was in the first place. Well, she better get whelmed quickly, or things might get worse before they could do anything profitable. She had asked about how he seemed to be getting around quickly, and it soon occurred to him that she might not be able to even see the pulsing arrow on the ground. No time to respond though, as he was certain whatever was coming down the corridor was surely out to destroy them. His theory was soon realized the moment the "tagalong" decided it was a brilliant idea to disregard his warning and straight up give away their position. He glared at her, dumbfounded by her disrespect and carelessness. But there was no time to run from it or to even turn around as the alarm blared before them most certainly alerting other bots like it nearby. It stopped rolling directly in front of the two of them and six legs sprouted from little sockets that opened around the surface of the orb. It was like a small spider with a screen overwhelmed by large pixelated red eyes. "RED IS SUCH A GLORIOUS COLOR ISN'T IT, SIMEON? IT SHARES MY PASSION AND DETERMINATION AND IT'S THE BEST COLOR TO REPRESENT WORLD DOMINATION, WOULDN'T YOU AGREE." The words were metallic, coming directly from the mechanical being itself. Almost as if it was the computer that was speaking to him, not the individual machine. Of course, there would be no individuality within all of this... would there? Only conformity. Now she knew his name. What a drag, his eyes glanced over in Miss Sherry's direction. Not very many people knew that part about him anymore. At least the computer didn't say Storm or Stormbreaker. Only problems came from Sherry connecting his username and his real-life face. There was no more time to think about turning around and so he did the only thing he could think of. He pulled up the holographic menu, selected the Engineer tag as quickly as he could, and pressed the only button that made sense to press at that moment. ACTIVATE SPACE INVADER!
Without warning a small pixelated canon formed in front of him. All he had to do was think about it shooting and it fired a white, glowing ball of energy at the sphere. It missed. And in it's place, shocked silence as the machine stopped, took a look at the now cracking wall and then turned back to face Simeon who was starting at the game gun in bewilderment. "What the fuck?"[googlefont=Karla]

Tear Fall (1/3 CD) [break] [attr="class","shaliceinwonderlandp3"][break]
If there was someone who was most critical of her recent mistake it was Sherry herself, she couldn’t tell if it was due to a sense of unfamiliarity of her surroundings or a lack of control over her situation but something just felt off about her actions so far. As if she was out of her element. She has always had preparation, a game plan in her mind when it came to dealing with situations or interacting with people. But without the time to prepare or the resources to take advantage of she felt useless. [break][break]
Her moment of realization followed by surprise of the mechanical product’s speed resulted in her missing the opportunity to make an escape, the robot being revealing it’s true form as a spider before then speaking. It had seemed this thing was being controlled by the AI that was mentioned in that message that once appeared before her eyes, while also confirming the name of the temporary comrade to be Simeon not that it seemed to matter to her in any form right now. Instead she was attempting to try and figure a way in her mind how to escape from the current predicament that she got herself into. [break][break]
But then something oddly surprising happened, a materialization of a weapon, a cannon in front of Simeon firing a blast of some sorts. Although it had missed it had seemed to pause the approach of the machine. [break][break]
“Thats-” [break][break]
Right. Although what had happened was shocking, it had made the gears in her brain turn. It makes sense, this whole thing was structured to be like a game. An objective, enemies, but most importantly a way to defend themselves against it. Abilities. Her mind flashed back to the brief glance of the menu she did before, remembering there were a few things that she read that could be useful for this exact moment. [break][break]
The mechanical spider had its complete attention on Simeon, seeing him as the immediate threat preparing its body to pounce at him in an attack. But Sherry didn’t give it a chance, automatically initiating a plan that was cooked up in her brain. In a split second she appeared at its side, impacting its body with a swift kick that knocked it over against the same wall where the crack was, before Sherry appeared back in her prior position appearing a little surprised at what she just did. Tear Fall, from what she recalled it allowed her to flash step to a location and back allowing for an attack in between. [break][break] The lass didn’t expect it to go that smooth however, normally kicking something that was made out of metal that big would cause some kind of recoil but evidently there were no such problems. If anything she could tell that she was much stronger than she was normally, perhaps another effect of the situation she was in. Not allowing herself to dwell upon the matter, she looked to Simeon saying with urgency, “Shoot it with! With that thing, whatever you managed to do before.”
