The bright smile lingered on his lips as he watched a customer walk off with multiple bags of dog toys, treats, training pads, and food. The day was wrapping up, closing time drawing nearer and nearer. Normally he would not be manning the cash register, but his part-timer for this shift called in last minute after receiving a panic attack from the weird messages that everyone seemed to have witnessed. It was fine; he enjoyed working the floor and interacting with customers anyway.
Even if everyone was buying in bulk, as if they were preparing to take their pets into a bunker or something.
The store gradually emptied out, allowing Min-su to leave his post. He set about restocking the shelves (if he had to stock left to do so) and reorganizing the toys after a few dogs were allowed to pick their own and tried taking just about everything off their hooks. After attending to the last customer, he disappeared into the back for a brief moment before returning to the front with a hand truck piled high with bags of dog food.
Once at the correct aisle, he hoisted bag after bag onto the shelf. His movements paused, a heavy bag of large breed dog food over his shoulder.
Before his very eyes was a semi-transparent screen with a... was this a DM?
He shifted the bag on his shoulder, freeing up one hand to attempt to close the floating screen. Upon success, however, the store around him distorted before a blinding light forced him to close his eyes.
When he reopened his eyes, he was definitely not in the store anymore. Confusion furrowed his brow as he slowly turned in a circle to gather his bearings. Cubbies lined a far wall, desks filled the space between with their chairs stacked upside down on top, and a blackboard rested on the other wall. A school?
He stepped over to the blackboard, readjusting the bag of dog food still resting on his shoulder. The characters half-erased on the board was... Hiragana? Katakana? He should really brush up on his Japanese.
One thing was for certain: he was not in Seoul anymore.
His next destination was the window, yet the sight beyond gave him pause. He was expecting to see a city. Instead, a forest stretched as far as the eye could see (and he confirmed he was on the third story).

too bad, got nothing to do on my own  Ryuko, like most people, was having a normal day before Earth decided to throw her for a loop. In fact, she was deciding what was for lunch after a day's hard work of a breaking in a guy's kneecaps. Blood still on her clothes, Ryuko stood in front of the food cart on a busy Tokyo street with her eyes fixated on the menu and the 20 different variations of ramen there were. It's safe to say she was there for a good 15 minutes before finally opening her mouth to let some words escape. "So what's in the-" She was cut off by a popup window that blocked her vision. Too preoccupied with her food options, Ryuko didn't even bother to read it before closing it in front of her. This was a poor decision, but not one she was particular worried about at the moment. The next moment, however, she finally took notice of what was happening. What registered in her brain first was the lack of sound--going from a busy street in the middle of the city to dead silence was jarring to say the least. Then she took note of her surroundings. No longer on the streets of Tokyo but rather inside of a classroom, it was definitely and unwelcome change in surrounding. Luckily, she wasn't alone. It only took a simple glance for Ryuko to notice someone else in the room with her. Maybe they knew what was going on. "Oi! You have any idea where the hell we are?" She spoke with a deeper voice than usual, and held her words longer than needed in an attempt to try and intimidate the kid. Why? Because she could. "Fuyukami-san, the reports are here." Susame's gold eyes flicker up from his papers and desk to one of his assistants, carrying a stack of papers in her hands. For the briefest of moments, he takes in her uniform and he remembers. The same one, different woman. The table, the immense near overwhelming staring of his father and older brother. He breathes, exhales, and smiles at her. "Just put it on my desk and I'll take a look at it." He watches her leave and his smile vacates his face, looking down at the pieces of paper and collecting his thoughts before coming through them diligently. What would have been a normal day, sifting through papers, answering calls, and sometimes slipping into old habits to watch the news led to something new. His phone is vibrating on his desk, and Susame slides his pale hand over to glance and see if it is worth answering. Strangely, as soon as he goes, a message in transparent blue appears along with a very...odd message that he figures must have been some kind of adolescent text that wasn't meant for him. 'UwU big mommy milkers make up for ur terrible personality i guess'. What kind of...what? Susame's eyebrows knit with brief minor confusion, looking down upon his chest as it was the only thing that made a lick of sense with this dm. Course, after he let it sink in a little he might have chuckled a little bit and purposely ignored that someone he didn't know might have his number. Things should've been reasonably normal afterwards but life doesn't always work that way. When Susame stands, taking his white blazer with him, the scenery changes in an instant. Gone was the posh and clean office space and now was an admittedly dark elementary school room complete with small desks, a black board and decrepit desk, and two individuals that appeared out of nowhere. One he does begin to recognize, but the other? Absolutely not. Taking stock of his surroundings, slipping on his work blazer as he does, he runs his hand along the desk closest to him and shakes the dust off of it. "Well, if I had been made aware I'd be back in school I would've brought my old elementary backpack with me." His voice is smooth and practiced, another chuckle to pass over the feelings of bewilderment that was setting in. Curious as he always was, he sidled up to the board to stand next to the young man, roaming his eyes over the text. Most of it was old, but he makes out half of what he assumes is the name of the school and some announcements for the class that weren't important. He's buttoning his blazer when he catches something in his peripheral, looking towards the sliding door to see something or someone staring upon him and the group, promptly closing it and the ensuing footsteps afterwards. "And we aren't alone in here either, it seems." Genuinely, this would certainly be cause for some concern, but Susame looked just about as calm as ever. Actually, it'd be a bit boring with just these two with him wouldn't it? |

The rough voice of a young woman was enough to break him from his thoughts, a visible flinch losing the balance of the dog food. He was quick to catch the large bag before it could slip from his shoulder, and he used the momentum to pull the bag down more gently than gravity would have. Once the bag was on the ground, propped up against his leg, he turned his attention to the--
Oh! There's two of them.
Instincts told him to shrink back from both of them, be it from their statures being greater than his own, the man being dressed for success, or the fact that the woman had... blood? Nah, surely that was just ketchup on her clothes.
Min-su shook his head in response to the prior question, a soft, "no," passing through his lips.
The well-dressed man's voice contrasted the woman's, his smooth as opposed to her harshness. But, why'd he have to go and say that? He meant other people, right? Right? Min-su's gaze snapped to the door that closed.

maybe it's a dream, maybe nothing else is real There was another person that was unfortunate enough to join the pair in the room, someone that Ryuko vaguely recognized. Hearing him before seeing him, the woman turned around to put a face to a voice. She'd seen him a few times before now, mainly when their families were working something out between the two of them. While not necessarily close or even friends, it was somewhat comforting to see a familiar face in a rather unfamiliar place. Turning her attention back to the wimp from earlier, the only response she felt worthy of giving him was a sucking of her teeth. Oh, that a short quip of disapproval. "Some help you are then, huh?" It was a little unfair to expect him to have all the answers just because he got here slightly before she did. It would have been nice for him to give her at least something to work with. Deeming him a lost cause, most of her attention was now focused on Susame. "How about you? Any idea what it is, where we are, anything? I'm down for whatever, but it might be best if we had some sort of foundation or something between the three of us before we go running off. Like...names, for instance." To be honest, she didn't remember his name, only his face. Couldn't care less about the other guy, but since they seemed to be stuck with him and his bag of whatever the hell, teaming up for the current moment seemed like a good idea. So, it seems as if the young man was meek and shy and...oh, yes, Ryuko wasn't it? She was as brash as usual. Fitting for a woman grown up in her kind of environment. The stark contrast between her and the lad was palpable, just as much as if you put her and himself side by side as well. He nearly snorted, sporting a relaxed smile among the light one-sided bickering. Being that he was not much help, Ryuko turned her aggressive gaze to him next, moderately more reasonable with him by he assumed was the familiarity between them. Probably kept her grounded, and he wasn't willing to deny that he felt something similar in this quiet chaos they were all in. "Well," He paused to push his back off of the desk behind him, having leaned on it casually. He strolled over to the teacher's podium and turns to face the 'class' with placid confidence. "Have you heard the tales of a Mayoiga? It's a building or a place that is not meant to exist. Like a supernatural realm you accidentally stepped into and depending on your choices, may never be able to leave back to whence you came." While the story sounded plenty serious, his developing smile coaxed feelings of unease and serenity both in a heady mixture.
"A lot of the clippings and imagery suggest this is a Japanese Elementary school, but again, so much of it is faded I can't tell where if anything." The whole situation screamed of a lack of knowledge and proper understanding. It really made no damn sense. "I was in my office when I came in here, so it's not possible unless it's something 'odd' don't you think?" He turns to take a look at some newspapers tacked to the wall and then a cracked mirror which oddly gave him a glimpse of some new things appearance wise he was not expecting.
There wasn't a single day in his life he'd ever wear red liner in the corners of his eyes nor the inhuman-like eyes that gave off more of a vibe of a cat than human. How odd indeed. The woman of the group spoke of names and Susame almost chortled for the second time this day. "My name is Fuyukami, Susame." Facing them again, he tapped the side of his head, looking straight at Ryuko primarily. "But you already singled me out, right, Tamiyuki?" Oh, he remembered her name in the nick of time, that was it! There was a brief flicker of pride in his gut, forming, until sudden noises of scampering feet and groans echoed from outside in the hall. Instinctively, he raises his hand to keep the other two quiet and its only when the noises die down that he glances towards Min-su. "I'm not going to allow myself to make an elementary school classroom my grave." His smile returns mere moments later, back to Ryuko as if tension had not gripped them all just seconds before. "Coming Tami-san? You're already covered in blood, so I'll let you do the fighting. Just another day's work, hm?" Not that he'd let her, but it was certainly a fitting joke for what he knew of her and her family.

This was certainly not work, but the experience felt all the same. Her attention moved away from him, allowing Min-su the briefest moment of relief. He would have to remember not to make her angry, just in case that wasn't ketchup on her clothes.
Once the taller man took the podium, Min-su found it difficult to pull his gaze away while he gave a mock lecture. Charisma alone capture his attention. Was he a politician? Certainly not, considering the eye liner. An idol, perhaps? They usually had very commanding stage presence. Ah! He shouldn't be lost in his thoughts like this. Hopefully there won't be a quiz later.
A name and a half given, and he was quick to insert his own name into the mix. "Yun Min-su. Nice to meet you both," despite the circumstances. He was incredibly confused as to why he was teleported to Japan. At least he could understand them perfectly. If it wasn't for the weird system in place, he might have only understood half of the entire conversation.
He might have said more had it not been for the hand raised. His mouth closed before a sound could escape, and he tensed with the groaning beyond the door. The tension in his muscles kept him rooted in place without any sign of relaxing as the noises faded. Were they really going out there? There seemed to be no room for a complaint, so Min-su resigned to their unfortunate fate.
He leaned down and grabbed the corners of the bag, hoisting it up with ease despite its hefty size. "I can go first, if needed." He had a 'shield', after all. A terrible shield, but at least it was heavy enough to resist impact to a certain degree. Maybe. He'll be fine. That would have been hell. Oh, and the other one opened his mouth as well, giving Ryuko the spotlight for a brief moment. "Tamiyuki Ryuko." There wasn't much else to say about it, it was her name and that's as far as she cared. She listened closely as Susame went on, and then the group seemed to silently agree that whatever they were going to pursue was most likely not in the empty room. Finding that hard logic to argue against, Ryuko pretty much reached the same conclusion. "I think I'll go first on this one." Ryuko wasn't the type of person to pass up a leadership position, especially when her only other competition was a wimp with a bag of whatever. Yeah, it was more than she had on her at the moment, but if he ended up leading them she'd want to blow her brains out. Though it's not like she totally disliked him. "Stay close behind me, just in case something needs a clobberin'." She spoke to Minsu like a normal person this time mainly since she was giving him a chance. The leader, the head honcho, the need to feel important and order others when appropriate. She was that woman that screamed aggressiveness for the sake of proving her station was deserved. She cut in as soon as she heard that Minsu would take the lead if needed. Susame tried his damnedest not to laugh, but sometimes even that is hard enough.

Even being corrected on his name usual brought little more than a temporarily amused boyish smile to plaster on his face. Alas, they left this place with a sliding of the door and just as she would, the lights promptly flickered wildly before being silenced. Susame signed quietly, wonderful. The hallways seemed endless as is but now there was no light in sight for any of them. He hoped that whatever was moving around these halls had the same impaired vision as they all did.

This was how most fear responses go wasn't it? The hiking of adrenaline coursing through veins, the lack of proper sight made all other senses go into overdrive to compensate. Before they run into anything, humans would crumble more from the imagination of what's out there than what it actually was. Mentally, this would be the most taxing on the young man with them he'd imagine. Yet, without calling for it, something pops up in front of them and lights up his face and eyes.

Three choices made available to him: Horticulturalist, Blood Mage, and Exorcist. His eyes roam his choices, perplexed, truly, as he'd never really played a lot of video games when he was younger and at present. The Horticulturalist had a flowering plant underneath. It brought ideas of plants and nature, and while he enjoyed those things he didn't choose it. Blood Mage, a drop of blood, danger, release, life and death. It appealed to him, barely even considering the Exorcist choice next to it - namely he never really saw himself as the type deserving to exorcise anything with what he calls his family on a daily basis - and presses his finger to the middle choice.

Then, it ends as soon as it comes, eyes having to forcibly adjust back to the darkness again. He clicks his tongue, but feels something sharp prick and cut his tongue just enough for him to taste the cooper tang of blood. His mouth opens out of reflex, but a rushing of something wet escapes his mouth. He doesn't know what it is, feeling like its being 'drawn' out in some fashion. When Susame's eyes race trying to figure out what's happening, the lights flicker just long enough for him to see a thin red coil slither upwards as if it had a mind of its own. His eyes travel upwards to watch it in silent confused awe until his eyes focused on something else far more distressing.

Something was on the ceiling, fingers digging into the wall to keep her anchored to it. Her neck was stretched and snapped at an unnatural angle, a fixated wide ear touching grin on her face. Looking into her eyes it was like they were two abyss's looking back at him. "Get back!" He side steps quickly, near stumbling as she descends, knife in hand. The first to see her was to die, apparently, for she was upon him, flickering lights painting a ghastly picture of her frenzied movements. Susame grabs her wrists, being pressed against the wall with the threat of that knife in full display. The blood spiraling by his mouth, urged by his fight response to protect himself lurches forward. It splatters into one of her eyes, causing her to recoil long enough for Susame to move away from her and gain precious distance. A good thing as well, seeing as how she wildly spun the knife this way and that, stabbing into the wall before she could wipe it away.

He could hear whispers in his ear, something clear coming through the indiscernible: Blood for blood, eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. That is all you have known isn't it? To be useful, to be strong, is to give up something in equivalent exchange. I want to see her suffer for her ignorance and folly. I want to watch as her feeble body is torn asunder, organs squeezing and convulsing because she has nothing left. Because she is weak and useless.

Susame stares at this woman, seemingly a warped teacher, and something begins to be scrawled upon her forehead. It forms into a flower, steaming from its fresh development. Don't you, as well? Devil? That mark promptly begins to bloat, and then implodes. The woman screams from the impact, lurching back, blood spraying in all corners and is pulled over to him. It swarms by his mouth, healing the small superficial wound he had created on to himself. The lights flicker uselessly, the scene of this woman convulsing on the floor, creating a pool of that blood and the man who caused it looking down upon her as if she was the pathetic dirt under his feet. The barest hint of blood giving his otherwise pale lips some potent color.

Min-su did not have to be told twice to keep close. He readjusted the bag in his arms, careful not to rustle its contents and packing too much (dog food bags were not made for stealth). He let the others leave first before he obediently followed after them. Regret hit immediately as the lights fizzled out, leaving the hallway hard to discern except for the dim glow from classroom windows.
Now, Min-su was a period dramas kind of guy. He could count the number of horror genre shows and movies he has watched on both hands, and he was not prepared for.... All this. Doing as he was told, he shuffled closer to Ryuko, whether it was for a false sense of security or simply to prevent himself from getting lost in the dark.
The next few moments happened too quickly for him to process, and he only managed to register get back and step away just in time for something to attack Susame. The next thing he knew, the metallic scent of blood filled the hall, and the offender laid dead on the ground.

maybe it's a dream, maybe nothing else is real She was blindsided by the whole ordeal. Turns out, being first in line doesn't really mean squat when it's dark and the enemies can climb on walls. Then, out of nowhere, it explodes into a bloody mess in front of them. If Ryuko was getting looks before for having specs of blood on her, well then Susame was getting an arena's worth of eyes on him. It was hard moment to follow up, but Ryuko tried her best by doing one of the few things she does best: speaking. "Hey, are you... good?" Unconsciously, she put her arm in front of Minsu earlier in order to try and shield him from the demon. It didn't really do much and now that she took notice of it, she tried her best to put her arm back to her side without being noticed. It was quite noticeable. Jokingly, Ryuko would turn her head around to give an accusing glance at Minsu. "I didn't know he could do that. Can you do that? Am I the only one who can't...spontaneously blow up people?" The glance was soon replaced by general confusion. See, Ryuko liked to think that she was a woman that had a firm foot in reality. That being said, what she clearly witnessed was not something that normal people could do on a normal every day basis. Unless he's always been able to do that, in which case Ryuko really needs a reality check. The way, for just a moment, when he turns to look at them both that his once pristine white suit was now stained with blood at all angles. Yes, he truly looked monstrous and both conveyed their confusion just as much to boot. Susame looks down upon himself, mind whirling with just as much questions and bewilderment as the two he was with. All he could manage was the base expression of just simply smiling because he had little words he felt was appropriate at the moment. But, he tries though, as much as he is able:
"I...hm. I'm not exactly sure what to say." He chuckles, devilish fangs glinting off of the highly unreliable lighting above him. "It was purely by impulse, I had no idea this would happen." He watches as his will, as if coinciding with his thoughts and feelings of his suit being ruined becomes manifest. Droplets rise and peel themselves from the fibers of his clothes, leaving them spotless and suspending them around him. Eventually, the shifting blood willingly leaps from the side and splatters on to the floor, leaving the man as clean as he was when he arrived.
"I believe..." Susame moved, kneeling down next to the downed teacher and pried the knife out of her still hand. He taps the pad of his index finger against the sharp point of it, testing its use. "...we shouldn't stay here. I don't think..." A headache was forming, nursing his temples with his fingers. "...I can do that again for awhile." When he faces the hallway again, the blood, once immobile began to form shapes until it was legible on the wall nearest them.

It was a little weird to think of that in this situation, but it was also his first time having someone shield him. His grip on the bag of dog food tightened. At least he did not have enough pride for it to be hurt.
Wide eyes turned to Ryuko as she spoke up with a... joke? It was definitely a joke at first. He supposed trying to make light of the situation would be best. For now, at least. "You can't? I figured that was an innate human ability." But, that the question of how still lingered in his mind.
Even if Susame considered it impulse, this was more than something mere impulse could accomplish. Min-su's attention was quickly captured once more as the blood began to leave the man's clothing. That was the most efficient means of dry cleaning he had ever witnessed.
Could he do that? Surely not. If this was like a game, then there should be a way to check their individual statuses. Another popup of sorts. Status? Information? Inventory? Menu?
Min-su, absorbed in his thoughts despite the moving blood, raised his eyebrows as another blue screen appeared before his eyes. Rather than a notification, it looked like a standard gaming UI. He adjusted the heavy bag to be supported with one arm while his freed hand poked around at the screen.
He first opened his character status and glanced over the information. Beast Tamer? Considering they were in a school, he... didn't think he would be much help. At least it answered his question about exploding people. Wait, when did he get this? Probably when he was waving off popups left and right while trying to work. Whoops.
After pressing random buttons, he found the Party screen. A few more presses and--
