Did he really try to get past the password so much that it ran out of battery?! That sucked so much, but at least now that she had her stuff back, Argent could slow down and actually try to get back to people. “People”, pfft- really, it was just her brother she needed to get updated on.[break][break] It wasn’t like she was in town and could just stop by to check in on Auri, but she was extremely uncomfortable with how long it had been since she checked in with him last. It had been her hope that getting the phone back would solve that problem and she could just respond to however many texts he had left her, but considering her situation, there was little else she could think of to do than just hopping on one of the public computers at this town’s library. ”Ughh, why’s it so damn slow?!” [break][break] Ignoring the groans of the people at the computers around her, a smile crept across Argent’s face as the loading screen finally completed. The smile quickly faded away though at what followed: a blank screen with the words: "I like Gold better  ”[break][break] ”Wh-what the hell? Hey, did yours…” Argent tried to ask the person across from her if they had a similar issue at their PC, but strangely enough, the girl that had been there earlier was gone now. Not only her, but looking around the room, it seemed like EVERYONE in this part of the library had vanished. That was beyond creepy, on top of how weird it was that the PC would give her a message seemingly targeted at Argent specifically… people always loved to make puns about her and her brother like that.[break][break] She wasn’t the type to sit around and hide away when stuff got spooky like this, and wasted no time hopping out of her seat to try and figure out what was going on. As she did, however, another message popped up- only this one was right in front of her face, not on the computer. It was asking her to pick a class…[break][break] ”Huhh?? Ah shit, I must’ve fallen asleep waiting for that damn thing to load!” Argent slapped herself in the face a few times to try and wake up, since that always worked for her in dreams. This time though… nothing. She was in the same spot, with the same screen in front of her. ”Well, I mean, if I have to pick something, of course it’s gonna be the Assassin.” She played her fair bit of games growing up, and loved showing them to her brother anytime she got really invested in one. It was funny to see him try and get the hold of stuff like that, but she was always patient with him to help him learn how to play and show any neat tips and tricks she knew. [break][break] A slew of new pop ups flooded Argent’s vision after selecting the Lunar Assassin option, explaining features of this “Class” and how it worked. She also found herself in possession of a pretty dagger, one that felt comfortable in her hand, almost like it was made just for her. The final pop-up was a bit different than the others though, giving her an objective instead of just listing things that she could apparently do now.[break][break] [TUTORIAL] LIBRARY OF BEGINNINGS[break]
OBJECTIVE: Defeat the Boss Sorcerer. If this mission is not completed within the allotted time, monsters will receive a massive buff and spawn rates will increase.[break][break] The ground shook as suddenly the library around her began to shift, violently rearranging itself as the floor split and formed new paths and hallways. The bookshelves that made up most of the building earlier grew to massive heights, with ladders and bridges connecting them. With no clue what was going on but a pretty weapon in her hand, there was only one thing Argent knew- She needed to get moving![break][break] ”Well, I’m not gonna figure anything out if I just stand around here all day. Hello?! It was a cool day, slightly cloudy with the tease of possible rain later in the day. This was the perfect day for Tyr to sit down and enjoy an old book from his extensive collection. His home was a library he had open to the public as needed to share the knowledge and books with everyone looking for something more then sitting inside on their phones and computers. His way of life was simple, a easy wake up, clean up and daily dusting of the books was all he knew. Tyr was happy with his life and the only that made it better was the faces of people reading and the children laughing during story time and gaining a new book to share with the people. [break][break]
Today should have been a normal day but when he went to sit down in his favorite book he felt the air change, he looked up and he wasn’t at his home anymore. Now it was another library or something similar but Tyr knew it wasn’t his own. “Well isn’t this curious.” Tyr said to the empty air around him, when suddenly a screen appeared. [break][break]
“Put the books down and Pick a Class nerd.” The screen said with a list of options to choose from.[break][break]
Tyr confused by the rude tone of the message looked at these options and really only one stood out to him it spoke to him on a more personal level and his heritage so he chose Seidmenn. The screen disappeared and was replaced with another that spoke on a “Tutorial Quest” of some sort. “Defeat the Boss Sorcerer within the time limit.” It read and Tyr having kept his spare time filled with books and the like wasn’t completely up to snuff on video games and the like beyond early pokemon and that was about it.[break][break]
“Am I all alone to face this Sorcerer?” Tyr said as he looked around the area not quite seeing anyone in the immediate area, so he began to wander cautiously. In the distance he heard what seemed to be a woman’s voice wondering if anyone was around. Tyr made his way towards this voice and called back out. “Hello! I’m here though I’m not sure where here is.”

Ayesha stirred in her sleep, the pitter patter of heavy rain beating down on her home was like a lullaby to her ears. Dark clouds prevented the sun's rays from peeking through her window curtains but unfortunately, they did very little for the flash of light that filled her home. Had she been awake at that very moment fear would have probably been the first thing she felt so she had to thank her lucky stars she was out cold. The light didn't last long but the change and shift in the world around her was enough to wake her up. She was no longer in her warm bed; she was on a cold hard floor of what looked like a massive library. Questions began to pop up in her head but she couldn't think too much on them or where she was because right in front of her eyes a little blue screen popped up with some text on it " Are you still wearing your heart on your sleeve? " Ayesha understandably didn't know what those words meant, and she tried to look away to get a better view of her surroundings. It was of course more of a surprise that the screen didn't move away from in front of her when she did that and instead a new set of words were blocking her view. " If you want to survive, I suggest you pick a class. This is not a game, or maybe it is. "

3. Heartstringer There was too much happening at once and Ayesha could feel her eyes burn as tears welled up in her eyes. Everything that was happening had happened so quickly she couldn't process it at all. For the first time in a long time, she wanted to be near her father. She knew at least with him there was stability and familiarity, something she had taken for granted before. The bright blue window before her began to flash and over her choices was a new set of words. It read like a game mission, a tutorial. Monsters? Here? Unlike the choice of classes, she didn't get a choice from this prompt, and it didn't stay around for long as the choices for a class returned. Without much thought her finger touched the top choice, The choice that read Puella Magi Cupid. With her pick locked in a new window popped up explaining her class, the stats and abilities associated with it all and a few more important pieces of information that she would need if she wanted to survive this ordeal. Not knowing what else to do she began to move and not too soon after she heard voices and began to follow them until it led her to two other people. Wiping the tears from her eyes she smiled out of relief rather than out of friendliness. " I'm so happy I'm not alone here. Wherever here is..." |

Argent wasn’t one to get unnerved easily, but this place was really giving her the creeps. She couldn’t really say she had been through anything like this before- This wasn’t the kinda thing that just randomly happened all the time! The worst part of it all was that she was alone, but thankfully, it wasn’t long before she was able to meet up with others. [break][break]
The first man she ran into was someone she heard before she saw. Argent made her way to him as soon as his voice rang out through this book-filled maze, finding ”Oh god there actually ARE other people here, that’s a relief. I guess you guys don’t know what happened either, do you? One second I’m on a computer, and the next thing I know everything looks like this.” She waved her arms, using her knife to point up at the long shelves and strange place they were in.[break][break]
”Did it ask you guys to pick a class too? I think I’m an Assassin now, I picked that one and got this knife. The blade made her feel a little bit more comfortable here. If they were supposed to beat some “Sorcerer”, then yeah, she was glad to have a weapon with her. If this was like a video game dungeon though, then didn’t that mean they would have to fight mobs..?[break][break]
Almost as though in response to her thoughts, their little group was interrupted by the sound of pages fluttering as a trio of books suddenly fell from the shelves. ”A clue..?” Argent moved to try and pick one up, but before she reached it, they started floating, flapping their backs like wings and circling like vultures. ”Oh shit, these things want to fight, don’t they? I dunno how much a goddamn BOOK is gonna hurt me, but I might as well test this out!” She remembered the name of the ability it said she could use, and that it was buffed when she attacked something from behind. This “class” of hers was really playing into that assassin theme, wasn’t it? [break][break]
Brandishing her dagger, Argent quickly ran behind one of the animated books, jumping up and slashing at it once she felt like she was behind it. ”Crescent Slash!” Though she hadn’t fought with her knife before, these movements all felt fluid and natural to her; a silvery trail followed her blade mimicking a crescent moon. By the time she fell back to the ground, the book did the same, though in its case it had been cut cleanly in two. [break][break]

"Room 12, Subsection C, Row 6, Unit F, Shelf 5, Container 2, Alice in Wonderland, 1st Edition." He muttered to the empty room as he entered it, the squeaking of his book cart's wheels echoing off the full shelves. Once he got to the destination, he reached up with two glove-covered hands and pulled it off the shelf. He quickly set it down on the metal cart and opened it up, coughing lightly and waving the dust from his face. He gingerly pulled the 1st Edition book from the container and laid it on a different shelf of his cart, this shelf being lined with a thick foam. "Okay, only 5 more to grab." He closes the container, puts it back on the shelf, and continues on with his check list. He continues this routine of finding books, grabbing them, and moving to the next place for about 30 minutes before his checklist was completely done. "Well, that was not too difficult." Spencer smiled softly and crossed off the last thing on his checklist. He handed the cart off to the appropriate staff member and went to a small table in the back of the library, pulling out his laptop from a bag he had on his shoulder. Finally, I can actually read something myself. Spencer could not help but smile at the thought of being able to read something, one of the perks of working at a library. Spencer attempted to navigate to an e-book he had saved on his laptop, but his laptop was taking a long time to load. He sat there for a minute, but nothing happened. He shrugged and walked to a random shelf and pulled a random book. "Hmm, Survive the Night by Danielle Vega. Never heard of her." He walked back to the desk and sat down, intending to read the book while he waited for his laptop to load. --- He spaced out while reading, forgetting about his laptop until a strange sound came from it with texting popping up. Shhh no talking while loading in. Spencer blinked confused. "What in the world..." He trailed off and reached forward, taping the screen of the laptop. Nothing happened for a moment. so he stood up and picked up his laptop, turning to in his hands to look at the bottom. Suddenly, a screen appeared in front of him, causing his laptop to fall from his hands and thud against the ground. "Shit!" He gasped and blinked, his eyes adjusting to the screen in front of him.
It was asking him... to pick a class? He cocked his head in confusion and read the three options:
1. Bookworm
2. Know it All
3. Silent Collector
He looked at the options, assuming he was asleep. Silent Collector seems interesting enough. He thought, this dream being the strangest the ever had before. Spencer was unsure of how to accept, so he slowly reached forward, his right hand accepting the offering. Suddenly, an onslaught of information came at his face, detailing what this class was and what he could do. He quickly grabbed an empty notepad and began writing things down, have to be prepared even while you're dreaming.

This new screen made him worried. Fighting? He was going to have to fight something? He frowned and sighed, this was going to be an exciting dream. He attempted to will himself to wake up, but nothing happened when he did this. "Strange, I'm aware of myself dreaming, so why can't I wake up?" He muttered out loud.
The sudden changing of scenery made him stumble and fall to the ground, the shelves, floor, walls, and ceiling all changing to be something that would definitely be out of Alice in Wonderland. He opened his mouth to say something in wonder, but a voice in the distance drew his attention. If I was dreaming, would I hear anyone else asking for help? The worry that he was fully awake was starting to hit him, but he ignored it, calling back. "Hello? Someone's out there?" He quickly got up and ran towards the source.
He noticed he made no noise while running, which is something that made him smirk. Perfect for a library.

After catching herself back on the ground, Argent was ready to take another stab at the floating books and work with these other people to figure out just what was going on, but before she even had the chance to think, her feet fell out from under her. ”Wh-what the hell?!” [break][break]
The library itself was still shifting around, becoming even more of a maze of books and knowledge. The floor that Argent had been standing on had sloped down into a slide, depositing her down into an entirely new corridor. Just as fast as the passage had appeared, it closed up again, leaving her no time to crawl back up to the others she had been with just moments ago. [break][break]
”Oh, come on! Stupid library, what, just ‘cuz I took out one of the monsters?!” She kicked the bookshelf next to her in frustration, letting out a small “ow” before turning to figure out her next step. She didn’t have to think for long before she heard someone call out, a voice different from the two people she was with earlier. Although people had disappeared earlier, it seemed like there were multiple groups trying to make their way through the library. Argent hoped the two from before would be okay, but with no way to backtrack to them, it was all she could do to keep moving forward. [break][break]
With her lunar knife in hand, Argent made her way towards this new person. She kept an eye out for more flying books along the way, but in doing so noticed another person running towards the cry for help. Strangely enough, she couldn’t hear him as he ran, but given the context of the situation she figured he was another person trying to figure things out. ”HEY!” [break][break]
”You also investigating? I already ran into some monsters so it might be dangerous… but let’s check it out together.” Argent didn’t want to drag anyone along with her if she was going to be rushing into a potentially dangerous situation, but then again this WHOLE LIBRARY was a dangerous situation. It seemed like it would be in people’s best interest to try and stick together as much as they could. ”I got a knife and an “Assassin” class when the library changed like this though, so I can fight them at least. Did you?” [break][break]

After a few minutes of running, exploring, and trying to keep his footing with the ever-changing landscape, he finally came upon Argent. He felt a bit better with seeing someone new, but he hated the fact that he couldn't wake up from this dream (which was slowly turning into a nightmare). He gave them a friendly, but small smile, and listened to them. They mentioned monsters, which gave Spencer the immediate urge to pause and grow more concerned. "Monsters? No I... The mention of 'Assassin' and 'Class' caused him to once again pause and grow worried to the information he was gathering. Spencer pulled out his notebook and began writing down what Argent was telling him. "I was given the choice of three classes on a floating screen, which I selected something called 'Silent Collector.' I wasn't given a weapon like yourself, but I can do this." He hadn't actually tried to do this yet, but Spencer was about to try. He focused for a moment and closed his eyes, imagining a book. Slowly, the image in his mind became real. A blank and blue covered book materialized in mid air around Spencer's head.
"Well, I can do that I suppose." Spencer honestly did not expect that to happen, but was excited all the same. "And I'm quiet when I move." He didn't think talking about his research ability was going to be that useful in a scenario like this. "Did you see the pop up on how we beat this tutorial? We have to defeat someone?" He was ready to finish this dream and wake up. "And, where exactly do we have to go?"
Okay, he wasn't FULLY ready to wake up, this was incredibly interesting.

Listening to the guy speak, Argent had her suspicions confirmed. He had gone through the same thing as her, the class selection, the tutorial warning, all of it. Where she had gotten to be an assassin with a knife, he was a so-called “Silent Collector”, and could summon a book that floated around him. Oddly fitting for the place they were in, to the point that Argent couldn’t help but wonder if this dreamscape was made for the people within it specifically Or, had they been made for the setting?[break][break]
”Woah, well hey, maybe you can whack stuff with it? Those options sound just like what happened to me–” She paused for a moment to recall just what it had said about the tutorial. They needed to beat a sorcerer, and the longer they waited, the harder that would be. “And the tutorial was also something I saw. For as much as my mind keeps telling me this is a dream and I’m not in a video game… Well, all signs point to it being a video game. Classes, tutorials, bosses, all of it.”[break][break]
Argent had plenty of experience in games, and thankfully DPS was the role she had always had the best luck with, so this Lunar Assassin class really fitted her typical playstyle. As for where they needed to go next, she could only speculate.[break][break]
“Bosses are always at the end of the dungeon in games like this, but with how much of a maze this place is, that could be a problem. I think we should go,” Glancing around, it only took a moment to find a set of stairs for the woman to point at. “Up.” The Boss of this “dungeon” was a sorcerer after all, it only made sense for it to be at the top of the tower. It–[break][break]
“NO! LEAVE US ALONE!” Argent’s train of thought was interrupted by someone calling out nearby. As much as she wanted to find that Sorcerer and put an end to all this, she couldn’t just ignore whoever cried out like that. ”Uh oh, sounds like there’s others!” Rushing to the end of her corridor and peering through to the next room, she was left surprised by what was inside ”Aw shit.” [break][break]
Inside the room was a bit more of an open area. It looked like it had been some kind of museum or display room for artifacts and interesting items before all the craziness started, but as it stood now, most of the cases were shattered. In one corner of the room, a group of people had formed a barricade out of upturned tables and cabinets. One of the people hiding there had a spear that they were using to poke with and try to defend the others, but as for WHAT they were defending themselves from…[break][break]
Lumbering on the other side of the barricade was a marble statue. Though the statue itself didn’t have arms in the traditional sense, it instead had a long series of books coming from each shoulder, seemingly held together by some mystical force. Argent didn’t realize it until she saw it move, but well, THE STATUE WAS MOVING. It reared one of its book-arms back before swinging it wide, clattering against one of the barricade’s tables and cracking it in two. Books fell away from the arm as they collided, but soon rose back up to their place. [break][break]
So this was what the commotion she had heard earlier was. Fighting books was one thing, but an Animated Statue?! Argent had no idea if she could take something like that, it looked like it should be a boss in its own right! But if she did nothing, it would take over the barricade. Just like before with the slash, it felt as though her body was moving on its own as she slung her arm forward to send her knife spiraling through the air, striking the statue on its back.[break][break]

He nodded in agreement, everything did indeed seem like a video game in a way. The classes, skills, map, boss, everything all pointed to that concept. It was a bit foreign to him as he never really played video games before. He didn't enjoy playing them solo, and he did not have a lot of people in his life, not to mention a limit of people that would want to play the games with him. When she mentioned she felt like she was dreaming, his heart sank a bit. He felt the same way too, and he was starting to accept the fact that this might be more real than he had assumed and hoped. Don't think about that now, you have a lot going on and worrying about your reality will just throw you into a tail spin. He sighed and turned to follow Argent as she spoke about getting to the end to fight the boss.
Unfortunately, the both of them were interrupted by other people calling out for help. The two quickly found people barricading themselves in against a... moving marble statue? He cocked his head in confusion and quickly pulled out a notebook, writing things down. "Well that's... wow." He muttered and put the notebook away. He flinched as it drew its book arms back and destroyed one of the tables. He was going to ask Argent if they were going to interfere, but it looks as if Argent had already made that decision. He sighed quietly to himself and thought about the skills that he had access to. Research, I suppose that should work.
He focuses his eyes on the statue and his irises start to rapidly blink, going from white to black. ""Literature Smash"" came to mind almost immediately. He stumbled back a step, the voice in his head sounding crystal clear as if he was being yelled at. O-Okay, name, I've seen it, now I hit him? He looked worried for a moment and sent the book flying out at the statue, hoping to hit true on the thing's face.
"H-Hey! Keep it distracted! I'm gonna try to give it a taste of its power." He calls to Argent, not giving any more of an explanation.

Argent was a much more brazen person than many of the people she knew, and she wouldn’t have blamed the guy if he hadn’t followed her. That (thankfully) was not the case. ”Eek, definitely wow!” She was glad not to be alone against this thing, and if he wanted a distraction, she’d give him one. [break][break]
”Yeah, I think I can manage!” The thrown dagger and shout at the monster had drawn its attention to her already, so Argent ran into the room and darted past it. She knew her slash ability got a buff for being behind an enemy, but for now she was just concerned with getting her weapon back. As she picked her dagger back up, Argent slashed at the monster’s leg. It didn’t seem to hurt the thing much, only leaving a scrape against the marble. [break][break]
Immediately, The statue kicked at her with its stoney leg. She tried to block it with her knife, but the impact still put strain on her arms and pushed her back. This thing wasn’t something she could take direct hits from very easily… [break][break]
Argent had no idea what her silent–running ally had in mind, but he must have some idea if he was asking for a distraction. With the statue’s full attention on her, she started backing away again, pulling it away from the crowd in the corner and positioning it so that its back was to everyone else. ”C’mon, you big lump! I’m over here!” [break][break]
If there was anything Argent had learned from her time playing video games with her brother and friends, it was the importance of kiting and good positioning! [break][break]

Spencer watched Artemis begin distracting the statue, which gave him the perfect opportunity to throw the book and hopefully steal the ability of this creature. He focused and drew his right arm back, aiming, and shoving his arm forward at the creature, imagining the book colliding with its head. The book floating around his head paused for just a second before shooting off towards the statue, flapping gently as it did.
The book, thanks to Argent, collided with the target. The statue paused on its mid swing towards Argent and its head slowly turned to look at Spencer, the book now circling Spencer's head again. The statue's book arms immediately crumbled to the ground, becoming lifeless. Spencer cocked his head slightly and closed his eyes, the books at the statue's feet began to vibrate before swarming towards Spencer. "This isn't a bad thing." He called out to Argent as the books mimicked what it was doing to the statue with Spencer's own arms.
"Now. Shall we changed this up a bit?" Spencer opened his eyes and reached his right arm back, the books following with the movement and acting like an extension of his arm. The arm swings at the statue, colliding with its torso. "Not sure if you can capitalize on this action, but maybe try to shatter it?" He called to Argent and set his left arm at the statue as well, trying to pin it down to the ground. He could already feel the ability fading as he concentrated. This stealing skill does not last long unfortunately.

With the statue beginning to lumber her way, Argent saw a book, the same one that her ally had summoned, come flying forward and whack the monster. Her first reaction was “that wasn’t so impressive…” but those thoughts instantly went away as the statue’s pile of books it was toting around fell away. Not only that, but the books now flew over to him and became HIS floating arms! ”W-woah! Incredible!” [break][break]
With the new arms, he took a big swing at the statue, absolutely clobbering the thing with its own arms. How poetic, and in a library of all places! As he whacked and held the statue in place, he called to Argent to try and shatter the monster. ”Say less!” With its movement restricted and lack of arms, Argent charged for the statue, strafing to the side to plunge her blade straight into the back of its torso.[break][break]
As she moved, she felt a change in her being. She felt a little weaker, but was faster, and her body gained a glint to it–it was almost like light was passing straight through her! This must’ve been that “Lunar Phase” mechanic it mentioned when she picked her class. The marble was thick, but the combination of previous attacks and the bonus from her new form let the blade snake its way into a crack. [break][break]
With the blade lodged in its stoney body, there was only one thing left to do. ”Crescent Slash!” Her knife glowed and left a teal trail behind it as she drew it up its body, a diagonal slash across its back that sheared the stone apart. With her ally keeping the statue in place, she was able to activate the backstab bonus of her ability once more. It was enough to cleave the statue clean in two. ”Phew. Good riddance.”[break][break]
As the statue now lay lifeless (even more so than before!) another wall split apart in the room. Behind this one was a new set of stairs, going, stoney steps lined with books that curved upwards towards an unknown destination–though Argent had an idea of where it led. ”Oh, that’s ominous. Like I was saying earlier, though… I think that’s where we need to go to find the boss.”[break][break]
Glancing around to the others that were holed up trying to protect themselves, and the one that helped out in this fight, Argent tightened her ponytail as she thought for a moment. ”I think… I’m going to keep going. Try to fight the Boss. You guys should be safe for now, but if we keep waiting around, it’s just going to keep getting more dangerous. Oh!” She smiled and waved to Spencer. ”I’m Argent by the way, thanks for the help. That book of yours sure is something… Will you be staying behind? I’m sure I could use the help if you’re down.”[break][break]

She was a bit disappointed that no one else was going to challenge the boss with her, but that was okay. As Argent faced the stairway up, she gave herself a rousing slap on the cheeks. She could do this! This knife was beyond handy, and the partial invisibility of her Full Moon phase gave her an extra bit of confidence. [break][break]
Argent began the climb up the stairs. Unlike previous rooms she had visited in this twisted library, the stairs seemed pretty stable and straight forward. There were no extra paths or hidden side-routes along the way, it was just a straight shot to the top of a tower, slightly curving and twisting along the way. Was this meant to be an ominous climb, something to deter those that would face off against the sorcerer? If that were the case… it wasn't going to work on Argent![break][break]
Thinking back to the enemies she had faced so far, it seemed there was a common theme in this “dungeon”. Most video games tend to do that, and the monsters so far all fit the vibe of a library. But more specifically, they were both animated beings. Was the Sorcerer at the top the one that had been controlling them?[break][break]
As the top of the climb finally came into sight, the stairs leveled out to a large set of double doors. Argent took a deep inhale, and pushed, swinging them open with a loud CREEAAK! She boldly marched into the room, ready to settle things one way or another.[break][break]
The room itself was a fairly large area. Every wall was a bookshelf lined with endless books. Four marble pillars rose from the center of the room to the high ceiling, where an elaborate chandelier grimly flickered. In the very center of the room was a rug leading up to a fancy throne, and on that throne sat the Sorcerer. [break][break]
It was a robed figure, bright purples, golds, and blues, sitting on the throne. Skeletal fingers flipped through pages of a book in front of its face, while the other hand spun an azure orb in circles around its palm. The Sorcerer didn’t seem to take notice of Argent as she entered, which only served to make her angry. She growled as she tossed her knife, sending it soaring towards the boss. It lowered its book, finally taking notice and revealing its skull of a head and glowing blue eyes–only for the dagger to hit and bounce back off of it.[break][break]
”YEAH THAT’S RIGHT YOU BASTARD, I’M HERE TO DANCE!”[break][break]
The skeletal Sorcerer clattered off the throne, levitating off the ground as it raised its now-glowing orb into the air. The book it had been reading started to flap its pages, flying ahead to meet Argent just like the first books she had faced off against in this strange new world. The fight was on![break][break]

As the battle commenced, Argent dashed straight for her knife. It bounced to the ground after hitting the skull of the Sorcerer, who fired beams of energy at her from its orb as she ran. The beams seemed to have an almost seeking property to them, at first curving in her direction- but they all fell short, losing track of her and zapping the pillars and floor of the room instead. This… must have been the effect of her Full Moon ability! It had mentioned homing effects were less effective against her, but she didn’t expect to get to use it so soon![break][break]
Snatching up her knife, Argent twisted and began charging toward the Sorcerer. She wanted to end this as quickly as possible, but that flying book was a problem, constantly positioning itself in her way to block her path. ”Move, damnit!” The Sorcerer kept shooting lasers at her, and while they were missing while she kept moving, if she stopped, it was obvious that they would fry her.[break][break]
Being put in this tough position gave her another idea. Winning the battle against the Animated Statue earlier, she had gotten a “level up”--more proof that this was a video game–and along with that came access to another ability. She feigned going left, and the book floated to the left, where Argent suddenly pivoted towards it with her knife. ”Relentless Slash!” The attack was weaker than her Crescent Slash, and had a randomizer ability with it. It unfortunately only struck the book once, but with the added bonus from her Full Moon, Argent was still able to cut right through the animated monster! [break][break]
”Hell yeah! It’s just you and me now, bonebag!” She could see the Boss’ eyes flicker with rage and its skeletal jaw open in a way reminiscent of a scream. The beams of energy it blasted from its orb became more frequent as it floated around the room, but alas; Argent’s Full Moon continued to keep her protected. [break][break]
Now that she didn’t have to worry about the book, Argent charged the Boss, she wasn’t too worried about its laser’s since she was protected from them, weaving left and right between stray shots until finally she was able to attack the monster with an upwards slash. Its robes were torn from the slash and the boss reeled back as Argent caught herself on the ground again. Just a little bit more and this would be over…[break][break]

Running toward the Boss again for another attack, Argent heard the alarms in her head as her phase shifted again. She was in her Half Moon phase, gifting her a resilience to her WIL stat, but that also meant…[break][break]
”SHIT!” [break][break]
A laser from the Sorcerer’s orb curved toward the woman, striking her in the arm. She no longer had the protection of her partial invisibility that came with the last phase! She tried to scramble out of the way of another energy beam, only for it to also curve and strike her in the back. Argent cried out from the hit, ducking behind a pillar to think. [break][break]
If she wasn’t protected anymore, there was no telling if she would even be able to get close enough to get a hit on the Boss! She needed to get back into Full Moon, but that could take eons… No, wait a second! She didn’t need Full Moon Phase, she just needed the invisibility! The next phase gave that too, didn’t it?! And she still had one more ability up her sleeve that she hadn’t yet been able to use…[break][break]
Argent could hear the lasers breaking up the pillar she was hiding behind, and they finally managed to destroy it entirely just as she came up with her new plan. One of the lasers managed to punch through, stabbing her chest… another hit like that, and she would be done for.[break][break]
As the marble pillar crumbled away, she glared at the fiery blue eye-pits of the Sorcerer’s Skull, activating her ability. ”PHASE CHANGE!” Another onslaught of lasers bombarded the pillar, but it was too late; Argent was gone. [break][break]
The final phase granted to her by her Lunar Assassin class, New Moon, granted her full invisibility. It was exactly what she had needed to dash away from the pillar unseen. The Sorcerer, confused, started using its orb to blast attacks out all around the giant room, but it was too late. Argent took full advantage of the invisibility to sneak up right behind the boss to deliver her finishing move.[break][break]
”CRESCENT SLASH!!! The blade of her dagger glowed to life as she once again used the ability. With the added damage of the backstab bonus, AND the bonus of her New Moon phase (an even stronger effect than the Full Moon!) Argent cleaved the Skeleton’s arm cleanly off of its body, robes and all. She felt like an anime character with that attack; there was a moment of time where it seemed like nothing had happened, only for the slash to separate the boss in two! [break][break]
The skeleton clattered to the ground after that attack, with the fire in its eyes dimming. Argent picked up the orb, tossing it in her hands as she walked up to the fallen Boss. She wished Auri had been here to witness this… but above all she hoped he was okay. Was this happening where he was at too? She taught him how games worked well enough that he should be able to understand it, but… Damn it, if only her phone had been able to work! [break][break]
It was time to get going, she needed to find him. [break][break]
”GG.” With one final slash of her knife, Argent shattered the Boss’ skull. As the flames inside finally went out, a new staircase formed. Finally, an exit to this wicked library had appeared. Leaving the library, it quickly became clear that everything on the outside had gone to shit as well. The whole world seemed to be upside down now... This was gonna be interesting![break][break]
”Auri… I’ll find you! I promise I'm coming!”[break][break]
