Evan was born to Charlotte Evergreen, and her soon to be estranged ex-fiancé Lucas Hell. Their partnership was already on its way out the door when Evan was born, but it was described to him at the age of five by his Father as "something that was for the best, for both our sanity." It seemed they has a passionate, but loveless arrangement together that got in the way of Charlotte's work. Charlotte herself was a great mind of the age. A scientist and Astrologer. Astronaut. Lucas was just a man born to fight. Fight and bake that is. His fiery passion for battle burned so hot it also made the best baked goods their side of the Pacific North West.

Growing up moving back and forth between their homes. Separate in parenting styles, and expectation, led to more than their fair share of issues. Lucas taught Evan how to use his anger, passions, and love to fight. He had always wanted a mini-me to share his skills with, and Evan was perfect. Charlotte, made him study ferociously. "Knowledge and foresight are always better than Might and Intuition" she would parrot. To anyone else it would be a culture shock, but for Evan, he knew how to manage bother their quirks and personalities. Though, as his Mother grew older, she would begin to nag, belittle, and curse Evan. It seemed obsession with her work took their tolls on her mind. Evan's father, now raising a second child, June, left by another failed partnering, left Evan more and more in the care of his Mother.

She took this opportunity to use him as a backup plan, if she were to ever falter in health. Forcing him to make sacrifice of his own ambitions to shoulder her burdens. Not only did she leave all the housework to him, burying Evan in research material and studying, but each and every time she made a breakthrough he was there. By her side. The only time he was able to get release were the small fractions of time away, at his Fathers bakery. Which became farther apart, and shorter each time. Around Evans' Seventeenth birthday, Lucas' body began to fail. Whether it was from the hard labor he worked, or the harsh pleasure of fighting in his freetime no one could tell. But it happened fast, and before anyone knew it he passed away, leaving Evan, his half-sister and the bakery. It was unthinkable to him, how was he going to take care of not only this new teen, and the bakery? His Mother told him to sell the shop and hire a nanny using the money until his sister turned eighteen like him. After all, she was only five years out. That way they could continue her work. He could become something MORE than a caretaker, something more than just a baker... The disregard in her voice angered him. Was he not already HER caretaker? He could be so much more than just a shadow. A shadow of either of them. So he left.

With no financial support from his Mother, Evan kept the bakery open, using it as a place to live, as well as literally keeping food on their table. It didn't take long for his Fathers' old associates to find him either. Apparently debt was owed. Something about losing fights and not paying bets. Threats against him were fine, but they soon began threatening his Sister and their home. Fine. He'd play their games for now. Evan would begin fighting in his Fathers' place at underground arenas made for betting. Occasionally a legit avenue would come around, and he'd fight there too. But for the most part it was under the table and the law. As time went on he got better and better, winning more than he lost. Soon, he would become unmatched in the ring. Finally a chance came up, where he would be allowed to fight a champion. A big name in a sea of shit, and it was official and above the board. Admittedly he wanted his Mother to come, even after everything. He was still her son. It only took a brief phone call for her to decline, she asked him one last time to come back and make something good of himself. She had something huge planned, a trip to the Moon. He denied, and asked her once more to please be his family for once, instead, she chose to belittle him. Again. Anger. It only made him more resolved to win this match. Finally end the debt he had inherited. The day came, and as it happened, on the news a excursion to the Moon's surface, led by Charlotte Evergreen. His mother. Of course it was on the same day. He would watch before the match. Watch all the weighed him down become weightless, and then he would fight and leave a victor. However, it seemed fate planned something different.

Those who set up the fight were not forgiving, dragging him into a room they threw him in a corner. Used up, beaten and bloodied. No more use for him. Then a message from the Earth burrowed itself into view.
