[break][break]Los Angeles, the largest city in the state of California and second only to the city he had just managed to wander out of alive, New York. At least those were some of the facts he had managed to remember about the place when he learned about it in middle school. Just like the city of New York had been entirely different when he actually got to visit it, how the Hollow Hills had appeared only in this stranger version of the world and how waypoints now connected individuals to several places all across the planet, so did this version of Los Angeles likely not look like it had in the old days.
[break][break]But as he had never been a resident, an American or even a tourist to this continent, there was really no way of knowing for sure what had changed and what hadn’t.
[break][break]Having spent his life living in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, or simply put England, part of him was afraid of going there, of the things he might run into there. For him, he had been spending his day grocery shopping, prepping ingredients and making his well-liked Boeuf Bourguignon for his parents during their monthly visit. While adding the finishing touches, he had suddenly seen a flash of light, followed by finding himself in the middle of a desert and being told to find some sort of oasis or die. Clearly, looking for this oasis was the better of the two choices, though the whole thing had caught him entirely off-guard and still left him wondering as to exactly what had happened. It also made him wonder as to what had happened to his parents.
[break][break]As he wandered the streets of Los Angeles, his eyes scanned those individuals that passed him by along the way, half expecting to see his relatives around somewhere. When he first set foot in the desert, he believed that he had been the victim of a stroke that cost him his life, and that this was the afterlife he had found himself in. However, once he came to learn just how many things around this strange new world seemed like they had been incorporated from some of the videogames he had been playing as a teenager, it seemed more likely that he had somehow been trapped in some kind of virtual reality. Strangely enough, that was something he was entirely fine with, as things had already been much more adventurous and exciting than real life had been for him.
[break][break]Looking for a place to get something to eat and someone that might have some information to be brokered off to him regarding the new state of the world, he kept his eyes and ears open as he just kept wandering.
