There wasn't much to my childhood, but nonetheless, it was my story. One out of a set of twins, I was born into a stereotypical family. My mother and father both worked and provided for the family, supporting each other whenever they needed --Honestly, they were one of the happiest couples I had ever seen. So, it wasn't long before additional members of my family were added, a new baby brother and then eventually a family pet.[break][break]
See, Dad was actually a police officer growing up and while he was on the force one of their police dogs was getting ready for retirement so he offered to take him in. Bison, one of the most radicicolous names for a dog, was always present in my childhood. A kind and protective guardian who was by far the goodest of boys, I can still vividly remember the day when my baby sister was born he would valiantly lay by her crib to make sure no evil would ever approach. I was thankful he managed to stay around into his old years when the youngest of our family was born, and then eventually passed without a single regret that all his little humans grew up safely.[break][break]
In six short years of being with us, he had made the biggest impact anyone could have expected. It was especially so for my dad who refused to get another dog for years afterward. In fact, it nearly took him an entire decade before he got another, but that's another story entirely. By the time Bison left us, I was just about to entire into middle school, the school I was previously attending didn't have a middle school attached to it, so I had to transfer over to another school, and I ended up losing a lot of friends in the process however with my brother with me the transition wasn't as hard as it could be.[break][break]
Eventually, I got back on my feet, and made new lasting friendships that would carry over into my high school years, I participated in many after-school activities, and field trips to different cities, and despite my parents' best efforts, partied with the cooler kids. My life was pretty average, by the time I was finishing up my last years my little siblings were already having their own graduation ceremonies and earnestly catching up, even one of them ended up skipping a grade! I couldn't have been prouder, but honestly, if he was that smart maybe he shouldn't have been such a little shit.[break][break]
I've always wanted to travel the big world, and I still can remember the mixed look of sadness and pride on my parents' faces when I brought to them my acceptance letter to be a foreign exchange student in England. I did my very best to keep it a secret from everyone, even my twin brother because I wanted to surprise them, but that look honestly made me feel a little bit guilty. If I knew what the future was going to be like, I probably would have stayed.[break][break]
The rest most people know of, I did my best in classes, I partied, I gave my family phone calls, or even video calls when I wasn't hung over or caffeine-filled pulling all-nighters for tests. The last time I saw my family in person was when I flew over to experience my younger brother's high school grad... I should have held them for a bit longer, maybe told them that I loved them more. I know I can't change it now, but I wish I didn't go back. I didn't realize how much they had all changed while I was away, and it left like I was already missing so much --now it's even worse.[break][break]
I'll do my best to find them again.
