Evey thought for a moment. Her parents had always said a dog was a big responsibility. She used to be home all the time, but now that everything was different, maybe not.. She'd be responsible - this time; she'd give it a little while to see how often she was able to stay home. "Oh, nevermind.." she said sadly. She wanted a pet, but maybe not today. She knew that a pet couldn't be like one of her impulsive purchases like at conventions.

She filled out the information they needed for them to walk the dogs with Nyke and followed him to the back where they kept the dogs. She picked out a shiba inu. "Ohmygosh isn't she so cute??" She actually came out with the dog in her hands, gently patting her head and stroking her ears. Shiba inu's were, of course, one of the biggest wants for an otaku. She wanted to take the little thing home. Every fiber of her being was telling her to do it. But she wouldn't. She'd walk her and get the task done.

She blinked when he mentioned coming from the States. "Oh yeah, I live in New York, actually! But I've been to LA a few times! Great city! My parents used to go there on business, so sometimes they'd take me with when I was too little to stay home alone." She smiled again. "Yeah, the new transportation sure is handy! A lot easier than dealing with passports and everything!"

The dog was patient with her petting. "Did you have any ideas on where you wanted to walk? Not too far, but I'm sure there's still a few places we could pass by depending on which way we go."

Evey straightened up again and took a good grip on Cherry's leash. "Yeah! I think they'll have so much fun! Shelters are always so dreary, I'm sure they'll have fun on the walk!" She turned to the shelter worker. "No offense.." They shrugged. It was probably well known that dogs needed exercise anyway - why else would they put up the mission to have people come and walk their dogs?

Cherry spun around a few times as they headed toward the door. "Yeah, it looks like they're looking forward to this!" Evey said and laughed a little as she watched Cherry spin-walk. She followed Nyke to the exit, letting Cherry lead her way. "Oh that's a great idea! A park would be perfect!" Her pace quickened as they got outside. If she was familiar with the area, she'd suggest a direction, but she had no idea which way to go for now. Evey chuckled, "You were definitely prepared. I didn't bring anything with me, unfortunately - I'm glad you thought of those if you don't mind Cherry having some treats, too of course."

Once outside though, Cherry immediately made her way to the end of her leash. She didn't exactly pull, but she didn't let there be much slack as they started walking. She sniffed the air every which way. "Oh really? That sounds like a good idea!" She laughed a little, "Well, they don't call it 'The City of Love' for no reason."

Evey stayed in step with him, only about a few inches behind since he seemed to know where to go. Cherry stayed at the end of the leash - still not quite pulling but definitely going as far as she could. Evey's brows lifted at the question. "I wasn't quite expecting a question like that.. let me think.. oh! Definitely that the government was watching us. I'm not so sure now, now that technology is more limited now.. but I think they were watching our every move, y'know?" She gripped her leash tighter. It was something her father had passed on to her, she knew that, but whether she had ever actually believed it, well, she didn't know. "I can't say I fully believed it, but maybe a little."

She looked down at the ground as they continued walking, gears turning in her head. Scenery passing by that she didn't even notice anymore as her thoughts consumed her. But two tails brought her back to the present time. She looked up at the dogs. They seemed happy to be getting out and exercised more than just around the little grass area outside the shelter. Evey smiled. It was such a simple task, but definitely worth while, especially for the dogs.

She blinked a few times at Nyke's next question. "Favorite starter pokemon? That's a tough one.. any particular gen or any? My most favorite is Popplio - it's so cute when it's little and becomes so beautiful when it's fully evolved!" She was practically skipping now. As much of a shut-in she was, she liked talking. "What about you? What's your favorite starter pokemon?"

It didn't take much longer for them to get to the park. It was a grand park at that, with plenty of grass and trees dotting here and there. In the middle seemed to be a decently-sized fountain. Cherry barked as they got closer, her tail wagging madly. "Maybe she recognizes the park?" That was when she actually started tugging on the leash. She was smaller at least, so she didn't pull Evey over or anything. But Cherry was definitely excited to get into the park.

Evey followed Nyke over to a bench, where she unclicked the leash from Cherry. She sniffed around a little bit, but as soon as there were balls out, her eyes were on them. Evey accepted one of the balls with a thanks and threw it in another direction than where Stone went. Cherry ran after it, sniffed it, and then brought it back. "They're so well trained! I wonder who gave them up.." Training took months or even years to complete, and especially that neither dog seemed to want to run off without any real bond to either person they were with - that was quite the accomplishment. Or they just really liked playing fetch.
