While worker ants are mostly unconcerned with your presence, they will flee to summon soldier ants for protection if threatened, and the soldiers will also be aggressive if encountered. The destination will invariably be something the ants will defend vigorously, such as food or egg storage, their queen, the radioactive goop or magical relic making them giant, etc.

Hana had contacted Aliyah and Nubia (along with several other people on her friends list) through the system, inviting them to a little pop up live performance she was going to attempt. They'd both showed appreciation for her music before, so they seemed like good recruitment candidates!

She'd been staking out this corner for weeks now. Before establishing her actual Guild Base, Hana had basically been based in LA, so she'd had plenty of time to observe the city and its people. It was busy, but not crowded. The street was mostly clear. And a partially collapsed building had created a flat, raised area that might work as a makeshift stage. Now she just had to take it.

Taking a deep breath, Hana deftly hopped up the chunks of rubble like stepping stones, landing on the flat stretch of fallen building. "H-hello, Los Angeles!" Hana blushed at the small stutter, but continued on with her plan. Gesturing as three floating stage lights appeared behind her. They clicked on and began pulsing with color, as she lifted her hand into the air, firing off dazzling pyrotechnics!

Thankfully, in the Safe Zone, none of this would harm anybody. Now that she'd gotten the attention of the people going about their business of survival, a curious crowd was beginning to form. She just needed a few more pieces of equipment to help keep their attention. A headphone and mic appearing, as she adjusted it near her mouth, followed by her trusty guitar summoned into her hands.

Reassuringly, she spotted two of her invitees appearing from slightly different directions. As she began to play, accompanying music slowly faded in. It was definitely pulsing outwards from her spot on the stage, but where exactly it came from was unclear! Hana smiled, hoping they noticed her noticing them, as the stage lights began to float about, pulsing colors in time with the music.

Hana waved Noelle over after spotting Natalya and Vanilla finishing up their stocking. The progress bar pinged a happy noise as it filled up, notifying them all that the mission was complete! "Good job! See, easy right?"

Smiling, she popped up a menu and selected one of her class tools from the list. The [Exit, Stage Right] progress bar replaced the one from their mission, steadily filling up. "Okay, whoever wants to get back to LA fast, just stay in the party with me. If you want to spend the night here, then leave the party through the menu."

While she was waiting for that, she might as well open up that treasure map she'd found last time she visited the islands. Apparently she'd find another treasure chest right here! Hopefully none of the others would be upset that it only worked for her...

Hana smiled wide at Cyrus as he thanked her and began slipping past the slimes. "Oh, no problem!" She turned to watch him go, still playing that tune. The slimes slowly rotated around to completely face the blonde musician, now that their attention was no longer divided. She kept the melody going for now, watching Natalya herd Cyrus towards the other stranger.

From the way the two interacted, it seemed they already knew each other, which was good to know. She couldn't quite hear them from this distance, though, and in fact was backing further away from them at the moment. "Huh? Just a sec!" Hana called out before leading the train of slimes around the fountain.

Once the crowd was assembled, she let the song fade away. It wouldn't take long for them to recover, and most likely turn aggressive. So with another glance at the group to ensure they were far enough away, Hana strummed a power chord. It echoed, warping, twisting...a purple duplicate of the guitar briefly visible before a wave of sound blasted through the area.

Water from the fountain was splashed out, dust and dirt kicked up and sent flying. As the sound faded, the area was clear of slimes...except for the gooey trails they'd made while moving around. Storing the guitar in her inventory again, Hana hurried back around the fountain and across the open square to reach the others.

"Sorry, I couldn't hear you! I had to be sure I was out of range and everything." She gave a short bow towards the two strangers. "Nice to meet you! I'm Hana. And this is Miss Natalya." The teen happily volunteered the woman's name without hesitation. "You should be careful about going outside of Safe Zones without having any attacks or damaging items. I had the same problem for a while."

While she winced in expectation of the blast, thankfully it was nullified. The musician had continued to play while considering her next move, but...it didn't seem like she needed to make one.

"Oh, it's dead already? Um, and it killed the other devil boss, so..." Since she'd actually used it before, the [Imp Lore] skill was still on her list. Hana pulled up the menu again, now that the mechanical devil was no longer interfering with it. "Let's see..."

As things wrapped up, Sebastian noticed one spider that was not his creation skittering into the room through one of the many holes in the wall created by the robot's arrival. The artificial spider silently crawled over to the still devilishly red musician, beginning to crawl up the bathrobe she'd been dressed in while playing her part in the strange scenario here.

With her inventory now stuffed full of frozen food, along with the new crafting materials, Hana was already more than satisfied with their little supply run. "Oh, here, Dee Dee. I got two of these, so why don't you take one for your, uh...new friend." She passed over the Ant Antennae. "Consider it payment for helping me fix up the truck." She smiled at the thought.

As the two of them (along with Dee Dee's companions, even the squirmy new one) were teleported near the pothole tunnel they'd used to enter this underground area, she was shocked to see a new passageway appear. "Oh! Mr. Olliver told me about this! You can combine items and stuff here!"

Hana was suddenly very excited, and didn't even wait for Dee Dee to write a message, barging right in. "It's super rare, this is the first time I've seen it! You might not see it again for a long time, Dee Dee, so make sure to take advantage of it!" Her eyes were wide as she walked down the strange hallway to the Forge itself.

She couldn't resist the urge to greet the strange blacksmith, smiling and bowing. But, she'd been warned that the person working here wouldn't talk or answer any questions. If this was even a real person, she was all business. So, the musician simply began handing over items in pairs.

"What is that? Did you find the Purity thing?" Hana called out to Enigma as she saw him examining one of the items he'd looted from the devils. A moment later, the status screen she'd been looking over began to malfunction, becoming distorted and obscured by static before snapping out of existence entirely as the new arrival crashed through the wall and into the previously lurking greater devil.

Hana flinched and ducked reflexively, but there wasn't much else she could do at the moment. "Th-that doesn't seem good!" She let out a confused yelp as Enigma tossed her the spray bottle, fumbling it a few times before snatching it out of the air. The teen hurried to look over the strange item, wincing again as missiles exploded nearby. The poor bathhouse was rapidly becoming exposed to the cooler outside air as holes were blown in the walls and ceiling.

"I hope this works!" Hana squinched her eyes closed and sprayed the supposed cure onto her head, then arms and hands. After a moment the bottle popped out of existence as she stumbled forward a step, no longer held in place. The musician let out an excited squawk of triumph...before noticing she was still bright red and wearing a bathrobe. She could worry about that and the horns later, though.

As the musician was gathering herself, the demonic robot pulled its fist back to attack, before Enigma's butterfly exploded near it. While its expression didn't (and couldn't) change, there was a brief, deep pulsing tone as 'ERROR' momentarily flashed across the glowing visor on its face.

"This party's getting crazy!" Hana followed up the exclamation with a riff on her freshly summoned guitar, as illusory copies of the musician shimmered into existence all around the demonic machine, partially obscuring its view of the others and flooding its sensors with new targets. Nubia felt herself speed up even further as she rapidly closed the distance, her mechanical foe seemingly moving in slow motion.

Now that Hana was all set up, she could strum a power chord and strike a confident pose. Nubia saw the monster freeze in place from her perspective, while she practically disappeared from her allies' view, blurring into a flickering, steel-colored shape. "Let's rock!"

"That was a close one!" She smiled at Dee Dee, before looking over her and her companions. "Are you all okay?"

She began to walk towards the assembled slimes, summoning her own guitar into her hands. "You should stay back for a sec, Miss Natalya." The teen spared a moment to warn the familiar face to keep her distance.

It felt like a practice song, or perhaps the first underlying steps to creating something more complicated, so she was able to follow along without much difficulty. Hana slowed for a moment after rushing through the front door to the store, glancing back to spot Dee Dee and her dragon flying through the opening behind her. Smiling at the sight, she continued inside. Darting between worker ants as the copies of her zig-zagged along through the aisles near her, still dancing to the rhythm she was playing.

"Almost there! I think it's right over...here!" At the end of the aisle loomed a set of double doors into a large walk-in freezer, with several wary soldier ants standing guard in front. With another glance behind her, Hana picked up speed. "Stay back for a sec!"

Dashing forward, she raised a hand off her guitar for a moment. As the music stopped, the dance moves of the illusory copies began to slow. A moment later, bright blue and purple sparks and flashes of light were emitted from her hand, momentarily dazzling the guards. Skidding to a stop, she brought down the hand to strum a power chord...a wave of sound blasting the stunned ants away from the doors, as her decoys struck a pose.

Flinging the door wide, she held it open with her body as she returned to playing the tune, sending her distractions dancing again. This seemed to be their destination, as the mark on the map was not only lit up now, but displaying a 1/2 status next to it.

"Decoy?" Hana paused for a moment, after reading that. "Maybe..." She made sure to finish the rest of the message, before nodding to Dee Dee. "I think I've got something that will work!" The musician smiled at the thought. "The worker ants aren't in our way...they're our way in!" She seemed very proud of that one.

"I've got an ability that should distract all of them, and also make us faster. But I need to activate it once we're closer to them." The teen summoned her guitar again, as she crept to the edge of their cover. "So, just start running, and try to keep up. I won't leave you behind or anything, don't worry." She smiled reassuringly.

Hana gave Dee Dee and her companions a few moments to prepare, before nodding and stepping forward. Speeding up into a jog as they passed a few surprised worker ants. And then, she began to strum a simple rhythm...as a second Hana appeared. And a third, and a fourth...

The illusory copies were all dancing along to the tune she was playing, spreading out in random directions from the musician. Hana herself seemed to have a rhythm to her steps...which Dee Dee soon realized was transferring to her as well. The worker ants seemed shocked by the strange creatures all around them, dropping their food and scampering to the safety of the soldier ants. Who were now blocked from rushing towards the intruders!

Hana seemed pleased as the others began to peel away, setting to work on projects that played to their strengths. Although, now that she stopped to think about it...did she have any experience that would be helpful here? She didn't really go camping or do these sorts of outdoor activities. Jogging and biking didn't really count.

Continuing to walk through the camp while the rest of the party found places to help out, Hana kept searching for something she could handle. Suddenly, one of the explorers (settlers?) approached her, starting a conversation. Several others were waved over to join her, before she was bustled off into the nearby jungle. The teen looked more surprised than worried.

While the others worked in the camp, they could hear the distant sound of power chords and loud riffs, steadily growing closer over the course of the afternoon. Workers were seen carrying fallen trees from that direction every few minutes, along with the occasional small reptilian creature.

Eventually, with one final blast of sound, the musician reemerged through a freshly blasted hole in the line of trees. Sheepishly waving off the surrounding workers, she hurried back into camp, returning her guitar to her inventory. "Oh, it's about to rain? We should, um, wrap things up and get back to a Safe Zone to turn in this mission, then!"

Hana pulled up the system menu, seeing the progress bar on their mission just about to fill up. All they needed to do was get everyone settled for the night, and they could escape before the rain set in.

ANTHEM was founded by Hana Sakuyuki with the goal of returning Neo-Tokyo to its state before the world changing event. Tokyo was safe and prosperous, having a massive cultural impact upon the world, especially in comparison to its size. She wants to reclaim the city and make it safe for people to return. Not only its original population, but refugees from around the world as well.

ANTHEM is currently based out of an abandoned apartment building on the outskirts of Neo-Tokyo. The compact living space can support more than a dozen occupants at the moment, as the building gained extra floors when the Guild upgraded to Stage Three. Thankfully the structure and furnishings were repaired and utilities fully reconnected when it was chosen as their base, so life here is fairly comfortable.
