"I've picked up a bunch of stuff by doing missions and helping people out. Oh, and those mystery boxes the system offers." Hana glanced back at him with a smile. "I'm sure you'll wind up with tons soon enough! I could probably sell you a few more things I don't really use that often, if you want?"

The musician shivered at the idea of fighting giant spiders. At least these ruins were slightly more comfortable than the sewers she'd been talked into exploring a while back. "Oversized animals are definitely Earth-chan's style..."

Hana was surprised when the spiders scuttled around in front of them, followed by Sebastian stepping up alongside her. "A statue? This sounds like the place then." Nodding, she continued along, following their skittering guides.

"...oh. That's a statue alright." She shook her head at the sight. A giant statue of Earth-chan's smiling face, with carvings of humans worshipping underneath. Hana couldn't hold back a sigh, stepping forward to examine the display they'd discovered. "There's, like, some kinda item here. Oh, it's a map!"

As she picked up the item with her free hand, it disappeared into her inventory. Sebastian received notice of an identical copy deposited in his storage as well...a few moments before some ominous rumbling began. The pedestal the map had been displayed on now spiraling down into the floor. "Um...that's probably not good, right?"

Hana raised her shield for a moment, but the blast thankfully didn't reach them. Storing the staff away for later, she prepared to enter into melee with the few remaining ravens, but Aliyah and her companions darted past her to finish off the survivors. As the surroundings shifted again, she shrugged and followed the others towards the next staircase.

"It seems weird to create all this confusion, only to give up on it if we just beat a few easy monsters." She nodded along as Aliyah pointed out what she noticed about the illusory appearance. "This tower did pop up in the middle of the city. Maybe it's trying to fit in? Or just showing us what it thinks we would expect to see."

Hefting up her hammer with both hands again, she moved to take the lead once more, travelling up the latest staircase. "What do you think we'll find next? Maybe a mail room full of killer sloths. Or a bunch of computer servers and laser snails!" She giggled inside her helmet. "I guess the dragon at the top has the penthouse suite, right?"

Hana was wearing her protective jacket, and equipped one of her shields as well, just to be safe. "Um, I'll do my best to watch out for any traps or monsters or whatever." It wasn't her specialty either. Dee Dee would've probably had a few ideas about this sort of thing though, she was full of surprises.

The three floating lights bobbed about as they continued inside, doing a relatively good job lighting the way, considering they weren't designed for this at all. "Nothing so far but dust and, ugh, cobwe-" She cut herself off suddenly, not wanting to insult Sebastian, or his small army of arachnids.

Down, down, down. No real surprises, although the tension continued to build. "At least it's getting cooler down here." Not just out of the sun, but underground as well. This place seemed to have been abandoned hundreds or thousands of years ago. Impossible, of course, since Earth-chan had created the place less than a year ago.

Hana watched the summon stab away at the creature she had pinned, feeling the beast's thrashing weaken before slowing to a stop. As the orb of light flew from the serpent, the life fully faded from their enemy. The musician's song came to an end, and the massive hammer retracted back to its normal size.

"Good work! Now we can get back to the mission." She flew towards Arcana and Dee Dee's companion, near the serpent's head. "We still need to-" Hana was cut off by the sound of ice shattering repeatedly, in rapid succession. The beast they'd defeated was partially disintegrating in front of them, flesh and scales vanishing from head to tail. Soon all that was left behind was a skeleton made completely out of ice.

"...oh. I guess that works, too." The musician looked between the others, before shrugging in acceptance. "Let's load what we can onto Dee Dee's star, and, uh...I guess put the rest in our inventories, if we can?" She hadn't been expecting this, but it definitely seemed like something Earth-chan would do.

Hana tilted her head at Aliyah's explanation. Then nodded. It made sense, but didn't, at the same time. It would probably be just as hard to explain what her parents had shared with her. "Well, you should be able to take the lead here then!" The musician tried to sound cheery while hyping up her companion's new skills.

As Aliyah led the way forward, Hana followed, doing her best not to bump into anyone while carrying around the large war hammer. She couldn't quite see the threat that had caused the witch girl to pause, so held back until the large ravens landed within view. Holding her weapon in one hand, she gave Aliyah's shoulder a pat with the other, before motioning for her to stand back.

Shielding Aliyah with her body, the actual shield from earlier still strapped to one arm just in case, she pointed out into the open space between containers. A moment later, three floating lights appeared, illuminating the flock of birds with beams of blinding light! Some sort of magical staff popped into her free hand next, the red orb atop it beginning to glow brightly.

Her voice boomed through the armor's speakers, as a ball of flame appeared at the tip of the staff, rapidly growing larger as it flew towards the blinded birds. Hopefully she managed to hit all of them...she was also hoping the two of them would be well out of range of the area of effect spell!

"H-hey, language!" Hana was blushing inside of her helmet, but thankfully nobody could see. Her gaze just turned towards Arcana for a moment, before refocusing on their opponent. Dee Dee had done good damage to it, and they had it on the ropes. But that aura had pushed her back, and even Hana was beginning to see frost form on her armor. "Ha, nice try! Not today!"

She freed up one hand to smack a large menu button that popped up in front of her, as the serpent's aura suddenly flickered, appearing crackled and gargled before simply disappearing. The flailing creature, writhing in pain, realized its defenses had just dropped. Spires of ice suddenly burst forth from the snow around it, encircling it as another layer of protection...but it obviously wasn't used to encountering flying assailants.

Arcana's line of sight was broken up, however. All she needed to do was reposition, but she'd need to move fast! On the bright side, the beast's wildly swinging tail was caught in mid-air for a crucial moment, crashing through that card-shaped shield to narrowly miss Dee Dee's flying star, thanks to the extra delay.

"Pound it into the ground and let Arcana take her shot to finish it off!" She motioned towards Dee Dee, lifting the comically oversized hammer up into the air again. "It's time for...Max Volume!" Glowing red lines began to light up all over her armor, visor shifting colors to match, as the music she was pumping out suddenly became as loud as the injured creature's roars of pain.

Get up, stand up, lady, ready![break][break]
This time backing vocals were joining her, as Hana sang. Clearly not her own voice, but that of an older woman. With the two voices crying out together, the massive hammer smashed into the serpent right behind its head. Sending it crashing into the ground, snow erupting into the air. Pinning it there, face pointed directly at Arcana, as the musician used all of her boosted power to hold it in place, armor outlined in furious neon red.

Hana wasn't worried at all about her new recruits disappointing her. They were all new to this, so everyone would be figuring it out as they went. So far they'd all performed well when she'd worked with them, so she was sure everything would be fine.

The musician simply smiled as the three split up again, the two ANTHEM logos drawing attention as they bobbed over the crowd, until both of them learned about the new Guild menu they now had access to. At least they both seemed happy, dancing, chatting, enjoying Dee Dee's cooking.

Hana kept up the songs as long as she could manage, wanting to entertain the crowd. And her friends. She was putting on a show, advertising her Guild, and preparing to be the center of attention a bit more often. A few people in the crowd seemed to recognize her during her performance, checking phones that still had no service before giving up on confirming who she was.

Eventually she had to thank everyone for being such a good audience, voice straining, taking her final bow and hurrying offstage to collect her refreshments. Hana was thankful for the food and drink, not to mention happy she'd sparked up so much business for Dee Dee. Knowing her, she'd likely given away most of the food for free, but at least that meant most of the audience would be well fed tonight.

"Oh, really? We hadn't met yet...so, nice to meet you, Aquila!" Hana stumbled slightly over the name, as the pronunciation wasn't familiar to her, waving to the bird before gripping her weapon again. This one was definitely more friendly than the dust vulture she'd helped Aliyah capture last time.

Nodding, helmet bobbing, she listened to the quick explanation of her new sub-class while they headed up the long flight of stairs. "I don't know much about mazes, but I could definitely help with the singing part!" Music was still thumping along from her armor, as well. "And I get how birds and singing relate, but what's up with the mazes?" Although it wasn't exactly clear how music or performing related to her current armored appearance, either.

"Uh, speaking of mazes..." Hana slowed to a stop at the top of the stairs, taking a moment to survey the area. "Which way should we go? Or, um, I could just blast a hole in the ceiling?" She looked upwards, pondering the idea. Aliyah was closer to the ceiling than her at the moment, though.

The musician thought about that for a few moments, as she moved further inside to examine the first intersection of corridors. Hana peered back at the spiders as they stared at her...blinking when they finally wandered off. Realizing Sebastian was distracted by piloting the compass spider, something she was familiar with, the musician shrugged and joined the spiders in spiraling out from their position.

She didn't get too far before she heard the call, turning towards the sound. Hana rejoined the other explorer, before happily heading towards their new destination. "So, what do you think we'll find inside? Treasure? Or just another mission?"

Thankfully it wasn't a long walk to the ruins the spider scout had discovered. The crumbled building was somewhere obscured and camouflaged by jungle growth, but not too well hidden. Earth-chan wanted them to find the place, after all. "I'll lead the way! At least I don't have to carry around flashlights anymore."

After a moment in her inventory menu, three floating stage lights popped into existence, bobbing about in the air nearby. One shifted to follow Sebastian, another near Hana's shoulder, and the final one moved in front of her to light the way. "Inward! And, uh, I assume downward..."

Hana did look a bit taken aback by the appearance of the creature, along with some of its basic stats that the system 'helpfully' shared with them. "I hadn't gotten to that part of my, uh, tutorial speech, but I was gonna mention...Earth-chan loves to spring monsters on you if you're outside of a Safe Zone and even kinda enjoying yourself." She gave Arcana a shrug, before beginning to zip towards the monster slightly above the snow, while Dee Dee flew higher into the air.

"We gotta keep it pointed away from Arcana!" She called out, as Dee Dee began doing her part to distract the creature. "I don't care how tough it is...I'll handle the damage!" The serpent twisted to face her airborne companion, opening its mouth to expel a cloud of freezing air, whipping up a localized blizzard around Dee Dee. While it wasn't exactly pleasant, at least the freezing breath didn't do any actual damage...it just seemed to be slowing her down, causing her to drop from the sky. The tail swinging towards her was what would deal damage!

Eyes snapping to Arcana and her waddling protector, it began to slowly turn its head towards them, trying to adjust the aim of that breath attack before it ended. A sudden burst of song overpowered the roar of the freezing wind, before something slammed into its muzzle, shutting it off entirely.

Another punch rocked the beast, snapping its head the other direction, before Hana emerged from the last traces of the miniature blizzard. Singing as she fought, amplified voice booming. A giant hammer gripped in both hands, as she pulled it back, preparing to swing...the bone head of it suddenly rocketing backwards several dozen feet as the weapon's haft elongated, business end also massively increasing in size.

It took a long moment for the weapon to arc all the way back around, before smashing into the serpent's face. The massive head was sent flying, long body uncoiling to stream after it. This thankfully knocked it well out of range of the two left on the ground. "That's what you get when you try to upstage ANTHEM!"

Hana was squinting inside her helmet to read the words floating near Dee Dee's head, angling a bit closer to get a better look. She got the gist of it, at least! "Huh? Oh, that's pretty cool!" She turned her head towards Arcana again, nodding at the explanation of her abilities. "Eventually you'll have so many that it's kinda hard to keep track!"

When her passenger cried out like that, Hana squeezed her a bit closer. Hopefully not too close! At least that armor was in the way. They didn't have to travel much further, though, slowing down before getting her boots under her and skidding to a stop, twin grooves burrowed in the snow as more was sent flying around them.

As soon as she set Arcana back down, the girl was pointing something out. "This looks cozy Dee Dee, good work! But we might not be able to get right to work on the ice." Hana turned to look off in the distance. She didn't have any telescope items or anything, unfortunately. "I'll keep an eye out, while you two get things ready. It might just be someone else doing the same mission. Or, like...friendly penguins or something?" You could hope, right?

Hana waved one gloved hand as Dee Dee flew off, before stepping closer to the stranger. "Oh, what do the cards let you do?" She easily scooped up Arcana in both hands, princess carrying her if it was left up to her to decide. "I didn't have any useful combat or movement abilities at first either, so don't worry!"

Knees bending for a moment, the musician leapt into the air, a pair of golden insectoid wings suddenly appearing. They didn't seem to be attached to her body, or the armor, simply floating near her back. A buzzing noise soon joined the music Hana seemed to be continuously emitting, as she flew through the air with Arcana across her arms.

"Hold on, I'm just gonna catch up!" After that brief warning, she activated the secondary effect of the wings, zipping forward until she'd almost made up the distance between herself and Dee Dee. It wasn't quite as easy for her to look around with Arcana in the way, of course. "Let me know if you see anything, uh, weird!" She was shouting, voiced boosted by the armored suit, trying to make it clear she was speaking to both of them.

Hana seemed quite pleased by Aliyah's response, smiling wide and nodding along. "Yeah, of course! I'm still learning myself, but I'm happy to share what I've learned!" She turned to Nubia after that. "Oh, that's fine! We have to earn points to get by and improve the Guild and everything, so doing missions together is still great!"

Although Nubia clearly wasn't Japanese, the class she'd picked and the weapons she used meant she at least had some affection for Hana's hometown. Hopefully she'd be willing to keep fighting for it alongside her. Hana used the brief respite while Dee Dee was writing up her multiple responses to withdraw a bottle of water from her inventory, taking a few swallows before returning it to storage.

Honestly, the message she received was a little surprising. She paused for a moment, before reading it over again. Nodding, finally. "Okay, I get it." Hana understood, even if she was a little disappointed. "Whatever you do, I'll be there to help you out, too!"

The musician smiled as her two new recruits conversed, happy to see everyone getting along. "Alright, you just need to sign this contract..." A few pokes at the system menu, and the contract to join ANTHEM popped up on screens in front of the two that had accepted Hana's request to join. "...and you should get access to the Guild living space and everything. I'll show you around later! Right now, um, I should get back to it!"

Hana didn't want to leave the audience waiting for too long. The instrumental track she was emitting picked up again, matching up with the floating lights as she hopped back up into the air and walked back over the crowd. Undoubtedly some of them would be curious about the two people that would suddenly have smaller ANTHEM logos pop up over their heads, and the display had definitely attracted more attention to Dee Dee's cart as well.

For now, the teen returned to her makeshift stage, guitar reappearing as she went right into a third song. Something fast and upbeat, to get the crowd excited again! Hana could probably handle several more before needing another break, unless she spotted more familiar faces she needed to recruit.

Hana nodded along as the words appeared in Dee Dee's thought balloon. "We shouldn't get stuck or anything, but if we do, I can also teleport us all back to a Safe Zone." She nodded along while listening to the explanation from their new friend, smiling when Dee Dee offered over the guide. "Glad we could be here to help you out, Arcana."

"Well, we gotta get over to the glacier." The musician pointed off into the distance. "We can both fly, so, if you're alright with it, I could carry you." She blinked, breath puffing out for a moment as she thought. "Oh, right. That'd probably be helpful. I keep forgetting."

Hana strummed the guitar, the note hanging in the air even as the instrument disappeared back into her inventory. "Stage ON!" A moment later, pieces of futuristic armor began to appear on her body, in time with more notes from a phantom guitar. The song that had begun continued to play in the background, more instruments joining in after she was fully covered.

"Definitely warmer now. And stronger!" Her voice sounded slightly synthesized now, as if it was coming through a speaker.
The armored teen soon held both hands out towards Arcana, offering to heft her up once she'd decided on a comfortable arrangement. "Go ahead and head that way, Dee Dee, and we'll catch up!"
